I feel bad for the guy but I agee, if Ford denies his claim, I'm O.K. with that. What happened? My guess would be a bad rod or rod bolts from his description. It could have been turning 8500 rpms when it blew, who knows. Could have been running 35 psi boost. Could be it had an air fuel ratio of 20 when it blew. We just won't know.

I'm not against people moding their vehicles withing limits but tuning engines for more power then crawling back aksing Ford to pickup repair costs is ridicilous. How about all the stress put on drive trains that weren't engineered to handle 450 to 500 hp from an eco boost? Should Ford pay for a rear end or tranny that grenades because of increased HP?

It's very simple... if you can't afford to pay for repairs caused by moding then leave it stock until your warranty runs out!
I get what you're saying here but you know the 3.5L ecoboost in the raptor is factory 450hp/torque right? It's obviously designed to handle it. I do agree that if you mod a vehicle then you shouldn't expect it to be warrantied but most times it's not necessarily the tune or parts that cause the failure just a factory defect that was amplified by upgraded performance.

Lol from the linked post, "not here for a tune debate." Talk about famous last words.

Don't see anything fake here. The truck blew up. Now he's trying to erase the evidence and is pleading the fifth so he can defraud Ford to get it fixed.

Why not quote my whole post? The whole point of my post was I didn't think it was a fake thread, that the guy was trying to clean up his mess by deleting his mod list.

It's difficult or almost impossible to know with absolute certainty what caused the part failure. So when increased HP and torque are introduced via tuning or other means the mfg is most likely going to say... it's your dime. I know some dealers go the extra mile to help owners with modded their vehicles and still obtain factory warranty help. Dealers also aren't paying for that help but rather it's from Fords pockets. Dealers also make money doing those repairs paid by Ford.

Bottom line is very straight forward. If you can't afford to pay for things that might go "BOOM" when modding then don't mod! Don't expect Ford to pay for your performance experiments if or when they go bad.......

Amazes me so many think Ford should spend a dime to install a new block in this truck. Trouble with this country is to many people refuse to step up and take responsibility for their own actions. You want more power and things go bad.... well that's most unfortunate but it happens all the time.

The old saying is 100% accurate... If you want to play be prepared to pay! If not just leave the vehicle stock and avoid warranty problems!
Totally agree, the way these new pickups run, they don't need tuned. My 2018 5.0 is totally impressive.

I was just talking to my dad today about tossing an exhaust, intake and tune on this morning.

But then I read this. And even being someone who only became a member recently I have read on several occasions that SSI tunes are a no no. Also how does the tune interact with each drive mode? It seems as though ford has its own tune....sport mode.

I was driving home today and I put it in sport mode, And one take off caught me off guard, I was moving! It really doesn't need any more power, and seriously a mustang or sports car can be had for cheaper than a blown motor : )
