Default Black trailer hitch?

Looking to ge a standard ball hitch to tow my dads small boat every now and again.
i have an all black truck, and I see these all black ball hitches...

‘but, does them black on them last or rub off?
im going to actually use my hitch so if the black “scratches” off I’ll just suck it up and get a chrome one.
what are your guys experience? What brands are you running?

If you use it the paint will come off and it will rust, so will the chrome ones. You can use some grease to keep the rust to a minimum, but you're still going to get some rust, it's unavoidable.

The black ones I have seen are the fixed type where you can’t change the ball.

are you talking about a painted hitch ball or the black chrome ones that look black? Reese has a "tactical edition" that looks black, like the Resse forged recievers....if thats what you are talking about, no, its the color of the metal and wont rub off.

Thanks, I’m looking for a black one that the black won’t come off.

what about black “anodized” ones, will that black scratch and rust?

i will use some grease as another poster suggested

Here's a pic of the one I just picked up. The ball isn't truly black, but is more of a smokey color. Reese Tactical is the name on the line. The 2" ball 2" drop can be hard to find. I got this one at the local Autozone - was not listed online anywhere.

Get a chrome ball and a black tennis ball. Slice the tennis ball to cover the hitch ball keeping it from rusting and any grease off of you.

I would recommend getting this in the appropriate size and be done....for $4

The color might not be right, but a stainless ball will solve the rust problem. As stated earlier, there are ***** that have a darkish color, but I am not aware of what the rust resistance would be.

Good luck in your quest.
