A bit of a heavy and awkward load
I am taking this cultipacker to the farm tomorrow. It weighs 1000 pounds and is 7.5' long total. This is why I hate the 5.5' bed.

Looks like it is working out all right. Even in the 6.5 foot bed you would have had to drop the gate. With the 8 foot bed you would not have to drop the gate but you would only have two doors. I guess it all depends on how you use your truck the most. Haul people or material.

It's why I would never buy a truck with a 5.5' bed. 6.5' is small enough but still much better.

Trying to figure it out!
Did something longer than the tailgate a few times and got stupid once... Longest boards are 16'. Only had to go about 5 miles and it was all 30mph. Wouldn't have been able to drive over 50mph if I had to, steering would have been way too loose. No idea on weight.
Wouldnt try it with a half ton or even heavy half but this had the overload springs so it wasnt sagging sagging too bad.

Bed length all depends on what you need it for. In the past 3 years, I've never thought that I needed that extra foot of a 6.5 bed for anything.
That's insane. Regardless of truck capacity, the entire load weight is centered and teetering on the tailgate! You do realize that most tailgates are only supposed to take 500 lbs right? Next time rent a trailer man lol
