Default Bilstein 6112 and 5160 best setting

I just order the 6112s and 5160s. I was thinking of setting it at 1” middle setting. I already have 275/60r20 ridge grapplers and they are 33” so I don’t need too much lift. I want improved ride quality with the ability to off road and want to avoid getting a very stiff ride. I am also adding skid plates. Has anyone set the 6112s to 1”. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Same boat as you, brother. Want to get this set pre assembled from shock surplus. However, once its set, changing it to something else is practically a non-starter. Decisions.

My 6112 are set right in the middle. Rides great and wouldn't change a thing. I like a little rake not dead level.

i ordered mine preassembled from shock surplus, set at the 2” level. The preassembled shocks were incorrectly assembled by them, and it was a huge PITA to correct. Not a flaw with Bilstein of course, but the experience of having to disassemble and reassemble (correctly) the coil overs made me wish I just went with Fox or Icons.

The ride at 2” is great! Although I have only the stock suspension at about 92k miles to compare it to. I do a ton of off roading (no technical rock crawling stuff, just high speeds on forest roads, gravel county roads, dirt/sand etc)

Mine are set at 2" and I am still running the stock block in the back. I am almost dead level, within an 1/16-1/8 between front and back as far as I can tell. It rides so much better than stock and feels much more planted. I had the 5100 on my 14 set at stock height (shop messed up) and the difference in ride between that and these 6112 at 2" is negligible. The 6112 are much better at soaking up bigger hits than the 5100 from what I can tell.

Looks good Spider! Did you get a lift from the rear shocks? Did they settle after some miles? I have the 5160s already and will install this myself soon. The 6112s are scheduled to ship in January and will get those installed by a shop. After that I will head to Big Bend to test out the shocks on some trails!

COKingRanch, I like the Raptor take offs! usually a great deal considering you can get them for the price of the tires many times in TX. I was thinking of doing the same thing but I already have new tires. Will your truck fit in a 6’ 6” garage. I live in the city and my truck is a daily. I still want the flexibility to off road. Can’t wait till I get the 6112s!

Thanks man! Yeah I got mine for $1600 and paid $40 on ebay for the caps and Powder Coated the rings for $170 so stoked. Unfortunatly it will not. With the racks on top of camper shell it is right at 6' 11"
