Hello,

I tow a 6200 lb GVWR trailer every so often with my 2016 F150 XLT SCrew 4x4, 3.5 Ecoboost, max tow package and looking to replace my OEM shocks and struts with Bilstein 5100s. I talked to my local tire and shock shop and was told that the front struts are very hard to find since they are still in r&d sort of.

questions:

Does it make any sense to replace rear shocks only while waiting for front struts or will non towing ride be worse by having OEM struts with Bilstein 5100s in rear??

I've seen that some people replace the shock of the front struts with Bilstein 5100 but not the entire strut, is there enough improvement to warrant parts and installation expenses??
