Bigger center console Cup Holder option?
#11
This frustrated me too. My 2010 had removable cup holders in both the front and the back of the center console that allowed me to fit larger drinks with no issues.
I use one of these and I have to either hold it in my lap or set it on my passenger seat now =/.

Just grabbed my 2015 Sport and my Nalgene water bottle doesnt fit in any of the cup holders. Im about to start tearing things apart cause I really need this to fit as I take it everywhere with me.
Fit perfectly in my Expedition but not in the F150.
Any ideas/ mods I may be missing?.... Other than getting a smaller bottle.

This is what the console looks like in parts. The cup holder and storage bin are one piece of plastic. I assume on sport models, that some part of the shifter surround would be where the storage tray is. Note the extra depth of the tray.
Pretty much, there is nothing to do to make the cup holders bigger.
I pulled this out looking to see if cutting up something could result in more useful storage in the console. Doesn't seem feasible.

Not a big fan of cold drinks unless its coming out of a tap so I wont be needing a Yeti anytime soon. Plus it looks too nice for what i need it for. I take mine to the gym and throw it around. Beat the bottles up so much I get a new one every few months.
So this seems to be working for now unless I need to actually store a cup.

How about making an insert that fits snug in the cup holder with an opening large enough to accommodate the bottle. I suppose it would sit kind of high but probably the easiest and least destructive thing you can do...aside from moving on to something else that fits

This thing looks like a pos but its the same idea. I'm sure you can find something nicer for pretty cheap or make something yourself.

So it sounds like Ford missed the mark on the F150 interior? At least with respect to cup holders and bottle door storage. I drink lots of water and the doors on my 2013 hold lots of bottled water, no problem.
It's odd the little things that aren't noticed beforehand, but then again most would buy anyways.
Perhaps a little weekend customization can bring about a fix?
But apparently Ford doesn't think F150 owners like lots of storage? At least not like their heavy duty customers!
I attached the link for the new 2017 Super Dutys, the TFLTRUCK "everything" video. Here you'll find Ford design and marketing describe the interior and more. Surely those cup holders will work?
Perhaps forum member Twakefield can design a cup holder extension to fit inside existing, but extend out to hold larger size cups? Perhaps a forum message to him to ask if he is interested could help?
