It really is amazing that I am seeing Livernois recommended. I just do not get it - really.

Livernois set you into proprietary hardware that you can only run their tunes - and their tunes are not talked about anywhere in terms of performance or driveability but seemingly here.

The SCT platform provides the opportunity to find a tunes from quite a few options that you actually like - based on your needs and wants.

To the person that talked about going to a dyno... Dyno tuning does NOT represent driving... it is a WOT pull usually through 2 gears. Who starts their truck everyday and drives it exactly like that until the truck is shut off?

I also have to wonder why there is an aversion to paying $150 for the single best performance upgrade you can make to your truck. Hell, people put on completely useless CAIs, Exhausts, etc and spend many hundreds more. The fastest 15' F-150 tune only truck runs mid 12's and is trapping around 105mph. Very few street cars can touch those numbers.

As for failed engines, the tune is the lowest on the totem pole that will cause a catastrophic failure. It is only haters and the uninformed who perpetuate gibberish that this or that tuner is causing engine failures. Yes, this is pay to play and yes, the engine is being programmed to operate at a higher threshold of performance. As long as you go with a reputable tuner, the failure is more bad luck than a tuner grenading your engine.

Just kills me to see good money thrown out the window in going with proprietary solutions that are sub-par to begin with.

Katoom, you have already been in contact with the best tuner, but I question if you would have the right kind of relationship to get the most from the arrangement. If you do want the best tune, I recommend spending time in the SSi community before making a choice to purchase - that way you'd make a good decision regarding whether it is a good fit for your wants and needs.

My SCT X4 should be in within the next couple days. I am stoked to see the performance difference!

.
As I mentioned, there are a lot of opinions. I have yet to see any one tuner with perfect feed back.

There are many reasons that influence a decision a person makes. This obviously is your opinion. I'd be interested in knowing who you think the best tuner is so I can show you some negative comments that have been posted.

Also, when you make a comment like the one you opened with it really doesn't hold any weight unless you can or are willing to back it up with some sort of an example/personal experience. Helps someone like me make decisions in our choice/purchase.

Folks like me, try to read through all the reviews and make the best decision from what we've read or are trying to accomplish with "their" tune. Denouncing a company without relating your experience or insight is not helpful.

Yet millions of people buy Apple iPhones (with their proprietary software) and are totally happy with them... while others like Androids open architecture platform.

Livernois sells a good product that many people are extremely happy with. What's not to get????

These are 40-60K investments.

Bold above are subjective and relative statements - and the base reality is: you will never be able to evaluate the relative truth.

Buying single-use architecture, in this case, is pretty irrational. There are two things to this:
1. If you are happy, that is all that matters for you.
2. It is inherently BAD advice to steer someone else down this path - especially when the general consensus is that LMS tunes are not even remotely on par with offerings on the SCT platform - and at least readily available performance data substantiates this.

1. Trucks like phones are expenses. I suggest you look up the definition of investment.
2. General consensus... Says who?

The canned SCT tunes in your device are fairly "mellow".
Once you load a custom tune, from your favorite tuner, the gains will be more evident.
