Curious why for occasional use? I can see full up chains for heavy winters, but for occasional use on ice, why not cables?

Cables often have a swaged fitting on the cable end to complete the connection on the inside diameter loop......not that strong IMO. They can do damage to your vehicle before you realize it when they break.

I would avoid china made cables......maybe a european made set?

I had a pair of china made small-link-chains that broke twice with limited use.

Heres what I currently have on the F150

Cables are better for minimal clearance. Chains and cables both will damage your vehicle if they break. I used chains on my 1987 K5 blazer years ago with no problems and I used cables on my 1998 Ranger with no problems. Being in the southeast I use them little though but sure was glad I had them when I needed them, same as 4WD.

What size tire would that be for? I've got 275/65R18 on my FX4 and the Laclede web site lists the 2327 model for that size. The 2326 seems slightly too small based on the sizes listed for it, but I wonder if it's close enough.

Thanks for the post. I expect to need some beefier chains like this for breaking trail to a cabin in the woods. We had a pretty rough snow weekend here in Washington and it was my first trip in the snow with the new truck. It did great in the fresh and compact snow on the passes with just running 4wd and without chains, but I feel the need to carry chains for the more extreme conditions.
