I also have the Stubby and have no wind noise or FM reception issues. I've not once put the radio on AM, though.

I haven't experienced any wind noise either. Good to now it doesn't impact FM reception in case I ever have to use it.

I think you may be thinking of the satellite radio antenna on the roof (the little disc). The antenna attached to the top of the fender is am/fm

That's what I was thinking, but I didn't want to say it because I couldn't remember if I was correct or not.

42 pages and it only cost me $200! Great mods though. I ordered the final one the stubby today. I work for a hospital but normally I am at an offsite building. When I go to the hospital I have to park in the employee lot, which is a garage. The other day was the first time with my new truck and the antenna smacked the roof trusses every 15 feet or so. Scared the crap out of me at first, and surely cannot be good for the antenna long term.

Do you have the part number for this? I just bought my truck with the sandpaper option, don't really care for it.

This is the reason I cut mine to just above the height of the cab for early warning detection when in garages.

Also, unless yer well within the range of stations a shortened antenna will not be able to pull in weak or distant signals.

There is a thread all about this modification. I changed my grey sandpaper cloth for black leather. Then changed the cup holder, glove box, and panel under steering column to black also. Changes the look nicely I think.

You can find the p/n's listed in the thread. There are some that put grey leather also.
