So I'm considering the gate assist, but see there's a couple of different options, about the same price. The Ford, which requires taillight removal and Barricade/DeeZee which is external. Pro's/Con's?

I got the Ford one because it looks better and you don't need to remove it to take the tailgate off. I didn't remove my tailgate to install it either. I left the driverside attached and lowered the tailgate on to some sawhorses. You can easily move the tailgate out a little and remove the passangerside hinge that way. Took all of 20 mins.

I don't like the idea of white paint because you won't see it well at night. I'm going to cut a notch in mine so the light from the **** shines through.

I got the DeeZee assist. Incredibly easy to install and super useful. I'd recommend this one for ease of install. However, it is the only one I have tired and i can't comment on any others.

From what I've read, people had mixed experiences with the quality of the DeeZee. The pro to it is that it's easier to install since it's external. The con to the OEM is that it can be tough to install with some of the bolts but I had no issue installing mine with the help of a cheater bar. The pro is that it's completely hidden, and that's why I went OEM.

I just ordered the factory kit from Levittown Ford for 43 shipped. I'm putting in LED reverse bulbs. Since the tail light is out anyway, I decided to tackle both at the same time.

Go with the Ford OEM assist. Better quality, and It's hidden. Takes a little longer to install, but it's worth it. I's simple to install as well.

I have the Deezee. Simple to install and you don't even see it unless you are looking for it. That is one mod that virtually everyone who see's it says "That is cool! How'd you do that?"

A little dab of paint marker does the trick.
