Before and after Bumper Swap

I thought I would share before and after photo's of the front and rear bumper swap I did this past Saturday. Thanks to Alex (16xlt) from the Dallas/Fort Worth area that did most of the work. The color matched bumpers on my 2016 XL were ok but I thought the truck needed some chrome. The grill is next. I just haven't decided on which grill yet.
We're going Tuesday to get Line-X spray-in bed liner. |
I prefer the ptm bumper. I do know, the chrome bumpers are better at resisting rock hits.

Interesting. I personally like the painted bumpers as well, but if the chrome look is what you like, then more power to ya!

Looks good, then again I am in the chrome bumper camp.

Chrome always looks better, just my 2 cents worth.

What'd you do with the old painted bumpers? Is your truck magnetic metallic?

Chrome looks old, heavy even....... When I think of chrome on a car or truck I picture an old men over doing it with chrome thinking the more the better. I too would have to agree, the PTM looks superior, yet if your happy, and it sounds like you are, were all happy for you. :)

My truck is Magnetic Metallic and I swapped bumpers with Alex (16xlt). He drove up from Dallas Texas and we did the swap. |
FWIW, I have a trade thread going to swap out my chrome stuff for Magnetic! Door handles, mirror caps, bumper...

I like chrome but not on bumpers. I definitely need a painted bumper.

The cool thing here, a couple of guys from the forum wanted what the other had and they made the swap. Now there are two happy owner.... :thumbsup:

Up here in Ontario I have seen way to many $65k platinums with the ptm bumpers rusting away and peeling the l
Paint. I had a few nasty dents on my old 09 chrome bumper, and it still never rusted. The chrome is definitely more durable long term. |

Just bought a 2016 XL in the brighter red. I pick it up wednesday night. Ive got a 2011 right now, definitely enjoy the PTM bumper more. the one I just purchased comes with a chrome bumper. does anyone know where to buy the PTM ones?

I was very lucky to find someone in the area that had a truck with chrome bumpers that wanted to swap with me for my PTM bumpers. It worked out great for both of us. . . . |
