Easy. The only tools you need is two adjustable wrenches as a minimum. I used a open end 9/16" wrench and a 9/16" socket I believe. Having a second set of hands helps with placing the cover onto the installed rails and making sure it's square. Aside from the initial installation, removal and re-install only gets quicker. Instructions come with and are easy to follow.

I had a BakFlip MX4 on my '15. Great cover, fairly good at keeping the elements out, but not perfect. They only things that bugged me was the fact that I had a BackRack on when I would fold it up to load stuff in the bed, it would 1) not lock in the upright position because of the Back Rack and 2) it blocked the rear windshield.

So fast forward to my '18 now and I just ordered a Peragon bed cover. I had never head of Peragon until I stumbled upon them on the forum and once I checked out their website I was sold. They are members of the forum as well and if you private message them your email address they will send you a discount code. CANNOT WAIT to get the Peragon. Check them out before you decide.

Funny that it took 10 days and 11 posts before anybody actually began to address your original question. Sometimes we get so caught up in our enthusiasm for the product we selected that we overlook the obvious.

Tri-folds are very popular on this forum. They mostly open and close very quickly. Most of them can give you full access to the bed, with one caveat that Davecn5 touched upon -- when fully open, they will block the view out of the rear window. Completely removing the cover as a workaround for this is not a 'feature' I would pay anything for. But if having the back window blocked doesn't bother you or if you never open the cover, or never need the whole bed, then a tri-fold will probably suit you just fine. Some of the tri-folds will let you open them 1/3 or 2/3 and then secure the cover in that position, which can be very handy depending upon what you're hauling.
The sliding covers take up some storage space at the front of the bed, but they do not obstruct the rear window. Again, if you never need the whole bed, not a problem. They are super quick to open and close.
Most of the hard roll-up covers are very similar in practice and design to the traditional soft roll-up cover, which is the only design which in general gives you full access to the bed without ever blocking the rear window. Being somewhat more bulky, the hard roll-up covers usually block some of the rear window and a bit of the bed when rolled open. But they are a good compromise in that regard and offer somewhat better security than a soft cover.
Soft roll-up covers give you the most access to the bed without compromising your view out of the rear window, but at the expense of less security than some of the other styles. They also do this at typically 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of the tri-folds and can be as little as 1/10th the cost of some of the pricier options.
A full hard cover is a whole different animal. Personally I have no use for them. When loading something as simple as a wheelbarrow in the bed of the truck requires removal of the cover, then it seems to me that this nice shiny plastic thing has made your truck into something other than it was originally designed to be. But maybe that's just me. They are, by far, the most secure type of cover. In fact, I would say that in comparison and in reality, security with most of the other cover styles is largely an illusion, or an inconvenience that a thief or vandal would need to overcome.

So, there you go. Not all-intensive, but maybe a little better-rounded food for thought. (Is it dinner time yet?)
