Truck looks good Kahdir, thanks for sharing images.

Mikeak, I think the discussion concluded that the MX4 you can close the tailgate with the cover being in the closed state.

I got a bakflip MX4 for my 2015 SCAB. Looks and works great. The flat matt finish is a very close match to the factory Ford plastic on the bed caps and running board. Have only had one good rain since the install (been a dry month in GA), and everything was dry except for right near the tailgate. But I think I can fix this by just shifting to cover a quarter inch rearward.
Overall: Easy install, looks great, works well.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I was reading through this thread and decided to look up this bed cover. I see that it costs $900 I don't care what other people spend there money on so I am in no way trying to rip anyone here. I am just curious as to the benefits of this cover over a $400 truxedo roll up cover? Why do so many of you guys buy these expensive covers. Again I am not being sarcastic, I really would like to know why these are so expensive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but here are the reasons I chose to go with a the more expensive tonneau cover
-I personally think they look great, and you can tell this particular cover is high quality just from looking at it. I am not a fan of the material used for most soft roll covers, and I have heard (i have not personally owned one) that some of the materials do not hold up to years of exposure. This is one of the main reasons I chose not to go with the Bak Roll-X cover (which is not cheap), I did not trust that the leather-ish material would withstand years of exposure to south GA sunshine.
-also, I have been in some truck with soft covers, and they can be noisy

- added security. Now I am not delusional. I realize someone with a pry bar will have very little issue getting to what is beneath my tonneau. But I do feel the aluminum panels are more of a deterrent than a fabric cover.

- versatility. This particular tonneau gives you access to your whole bed if you need it. you can fold it all the way up against your cab, or only part way. The MX4 also supports 400 pounds distributed over the cover. That means that I can load my bed, cover it, and then strap bikes/kayaks to the top.

I Hit up the vendor truckAlterations in the vendor showcase forum and you will find its much less than that. The quote he gave me I couldnt pass up and just paid the invoice. I went with it over the Soft vinyl rollups because I wanted something a little more secure.

I guess its all about what works for you. I contemplated the revolver roll up from BAK because it seemed more secure but worried about freezing issues in the winter at my home and not being able to roll up.

The mx4 low profile, locking with tailgate security, hard form factor, sold me although $900 price is too high. I just ordered for much less than that. My father in law paid almost 2k for his shell and I thought the same thing. Man that is too much for a cover!

to each his own.

Thanks guys. I agree to each their own as I said I don't care how people spend their money. From the sounds of it you get some nice features. Being able to strap something of weight to the top of it would be really handy.

I spent almost as much time researching tonneau covers as I did my truck
I wanted a folding cover that was low profile and looked like it was factory that worked with opening and closing the tailgate (with step). I was able to get a good price from Supertruckusa.com over the phone (something about minimum advertised price rules) for less than $750 delivered.

Saw a Lund folding tonno on my buddy's Ram and didn't like it, saw a Retrax on another friends truck and didn't care for the large canister in the bed. I've seen tons of Extang and Truxedo soft covers over the years and didn't want the UV maintenance involved to keep them looking new.

The aluminum shell of the MX4 makes it a perfect fit for an aluminum truck

How is the security of the MX4? I've seen videos on how easy it is to open the other Bakflip models with a metal coat hanger. Have they make any changes to correct this problem?

I have been deciding between the bakflip and undercover flex. Couple of questions...

Does the bakflip MX4 still rest on the cab in the up position?
Can the tailgate be closed when the undercover flex is down?

These are my 2 deciding factors between both covers.

Default I put a foldacover..

I put a foldacover on my new 2016 XLT. I had one on my previous Ram and liked it. I like being able to open the cover without having to open the tailgate. Plus it has a lock and the front section opens also.

Was curious if it is not as weather tight as the original versions.
