Or should the same be written for the following

Stock lights are good enough

LOL I really like good brakes that don't fade. I rebuild my mountain bike brakes monthly and clean with IPA.

That said, I also like good skid plates, lights, speakers...

I just find it outrageous to pay $2,000 per wheel to upgrade brakes on an F-150. There must be, more capable than stock, upgrades for far less than the price of upgrading to a 5.0 engine ten times over. Perhaps on a NASCAR Truck series truck or a Mustang GT 350 or possibly even a Lightning. I could see if you're trailering heavy loads in the mountains but then a Super Duty is in order. Hard for me to comprehend the need and to justify the expense for such as you'll never recoup the investment at resale and I don't wipe my backside with C-notes.

Drilled rotors actually have less surface area then solid rotors. Their purpose is to cool better thus preventing brake fade. Drilled rotors will crack more easily, rotors with the holes Cast in them are less likely to crack.

surprised no one said this... based on your "needs/wants" for towing in the mountains, you should have just gotten an f250. The truck they build for THAT purpose. (after posting this, I see Chris6272 said the same thing)

But the brakes are cool none the less. Even though they cost like 20% of what the truck costs.

Also, ive seen a whole slew of cracked rotors. But I will give you this, never a big name brand. always some cheap powerslot bs or whatever you get for 200 bucks on ebay. Those are the ones you should avoid. They crack. google.

Wildwood has a very nice setup for the fronts with 2 piece rotors much like the ones on the new GT 350 for about half the price of the Baers. No rear setup yet but I'm sure they're in the works.

I did google. All I found is lots of logic, reasoning, fancy explanations, anecdotal seat-of-pants info and arguments why/why not drilled slotted are better/worse. I did not find any extensive testing and/or track time or actual data regarding any comparisons between blank, slotted, drilled, cryo, and/or cast holes. Nor did I find any data regarding % failure rate due to warps or cracks. Of course the real metallurgical makeup of the better rotors will be a proprietary secret.

Yes, cheap brands will not function as well as better brands but there may be some inexpensive alternatives. I would pay double or triple factory brake part prices for better brakes but I'm not looking for high dollar race car carbon fiber.

If you have a link to any actual data I would love to see it.
