Look, it's another update! To follow on with the last post, I get a call from the dealer and low and behold, they need to order what?...an IPMB! Imagine my surprise! So, now, I am waiting to be picked up to recover my truck. The new part is supposed to be in Monday and I'll bring back the truck for them to replace the part I had previously thought was the problem. This is happening in this way because I believe they didn't follow proper diagnostic procedure. That being, scan for a code, follow the procedure for eliminating the code. In this case, Do the alignment procedure which would have revealed the problem lies in the IPBM. Get and replace part. Do the alignment procedure and return vehicle to customer. Had this happened, my truck would have been fixed today. Maybe, the third time is the charm as I'll be bringing my truck down to them as early as this Monday. And the saga continues...

Ok, brought my truck down to the dealer today and they replaced the IPMB and did the alignment. For the moment, all is well again with the backup camera. Since I brought the truck down to the dealer 3 different times, I have 3 'tag' rings they left on my key. I have connected them together so they are three connected rings. I shall call this experience the 'Three Ring Circus' because that's pretty much what it ended up being. End of story...for now.

So, I finally picked up my truck after about 4 weeks. They ended up replacing the IPMB, the rear camera and ran the alignment. Also, they even wrote up the fact that first they installed the new rear camera upside down and had to go back and fix it. Seems to be working fine now, wonder why these IPMB's are going out?

They also replaced the front section of my moonroof and the retractable sunshade because it was leaking after they replaced the moonroof frame last time. As another poster mentioned it looks like this is an updated moonroof panel. Seems like Ford is holding out on some known problems.

Parts replaced were:
  • Rear Camera - Ford (FL3Z-19G490-D)
  • Control Module (IPMB) - Ford (GL3Z-19H405-E)
  • Glass - Ford (FL3Z-16500A18-E)
  • Sunshade - Ford (FL3Z-16519A02-AA)
  • Side Shield - Ford (FL3Z-16500A66-A)

I think you've got me beat, hands down, on the three ring circus thing. 4 weeks? Was that how long it took them to figure out a problem that takes about 5 minutes?

To be fair they were finished three weeks into the four weeks mentioned above. I was on a two week business trip and half way through they told me the truck was done. To add insult to injury when I picked the truck up yesterday they left the center dash speaker grille off ... after having it in their possession for 4 weeks still didn't finish the job.

I'm glad they got there in the end, hopefully, but I won't be going back there for service even though they are the closest dealer to me.

I just had my APIM replaced. It was failing big time. No issues since then! Ford keeps superseding part numbers on them according to the radio tech. I've got one that is newer than what is installed in the '18's, and have version 3.0 now.
