My dealer gave me three keys and I wondered why I needed so many... Assuming they put 2 others in the fob! Nope no extras but they are in my fob now. Did you get some loose keys with your purchase?

One fob had a key. Is there supposed to be one in each fob? And i got 3 more keys. The one for the door and center console but bigger so it doesnt fit in the fob and two more for the box link tie downs

The larger one is a valet key. Yes both are designed for the key fob and I gave my wife the low down on the hidden keys. The tie down keys are a separate issue from this thread.

When we bought our 2016 Explorer, there were no keys in either of the fobs. It was more of an ordeal than I expected, had to provide a notarized affidavit so Ford could provide the keys.

Hey, was I supposed to get a valet key? Two flip key fobs for me when I handed over the check.

No. The valet keys are for the keyless entry FOB users. The flip key users don't get that.
