Back Seat Fold Down?
FYI, I have a ‘15 Lariat 502A which comes with the Sony Stereo. I ordered and received the unlatching strap mechanism from Built Right (sp?). I lowered the back seat to install and discovered, a bit too late, that there is very little space behind the back seat due to the Sony subwoofer and amplifier. I was able to put a set of shooting sticks and a recovery strap back there, but that’s it because you don’t want to block the subwoofer speaker opening, and the amplifier gets rather warm during use, so you don’t want to put anything that might melt in front of it.
I should have checked behind the seat before I ordered the part. Just a heads up to anyone else. Don’t be stupid like me.

Well, I'm back. If anyone with a SUPERCAB has this, would you mind posting some photos as to where this elusive latch is exactly? I must need a skinny kid to reach between the seat back and the window, I can't get my arm in there more than a couple inches. I even took the corner plastic trim off and gained some room to reach in there, found a latch thing, but it isn't anything like has been described. There's nothing on it to release. Did not find anything with a fabric lanyard on it either. I even looked closely on the latch on the right side trying to compare.

I'd really like to do this mod, as has been said, there's quite a bit of wasted space back there.

Watch BuiltRight's video. It's actually quite simple. When I flipped the bottom seat up it created enough room behind the seat-back for me to just reach down and pull on the pin with my finger and release it on my 18. You have to be careful you pull on the right pin (against seat-back, with nub sticking out towards center). Then you can check out how much room you're missing out on!

Easy install. Looks factory. Ford really should capitalize on the space back there. They could easily redesign the insulation and make some sort of back seat organizer system/accessories. Also -- FYI many of the bulges in the insulation have nothing behind them. For example -- I squeezed my jumpers in the space above the jack -- I was able to push the insulation in (back) and it makes a nice spot for the cables. I was able to fit all this behind the seat, which freed up the factory space under the seat and space in the DU-HA box:
- Tool bag (tan)
- Tow strap bag (black; below the tan one)
- Poncho liner
- Shop towel roll (with gorilla tape under it)
- Slime brand heavy tire inflator/repair kit (with patch/puncture kit inside)
- Siphon hose
- Jumpers
- Fire extinguisher
