Default Child's weight

We just went through the sweet pain of dealing with Fords inflatable seat belts with our kids' carseats in my wife's 2015 Exporer (apparently not all carseats are made to deal with exploding seat belts). Anyway, during that process we discovered that our daughter who is over 40lbs actually can't use the latch system because the seat/latch combo wasn't rated for that.

Just a thought. We ended up just switching hers to the belt.

Maybe this would be a good time to check yours and possibly free up a latch on one side and go to using the belt.

Yeah, don't share LATCH points.

And I don't think I've seen any vehicle with three sets of LATCH anchors.

Is your oldest old enough for a booster seat with belt yet? That's what we have in our middle seat and it works well.

If not, I'd just use the belt to anchor the middle car seat until that point, it will be here before you know it.

Any of you guys with carseats have vinyl? I asked this in another thread and one person indicated that the vinyl should hold up okay to the pressure from the carseats but I was hoping to ask here too.

Worried the carseats will leave a permanent impression

Do you have another option? Lay down a flat towel to minimize impressions but will likely get into the foam.

Better than an permanent impression on your child.

Naturally no option, just trying to decide on my reaction. Ford put wrong engine and seat material in my truck. Cloth would have handled this fine.

We put towels under our car seats too, for what it's worth.

I haven't seen a car with three latch seats across the back either. Not sure why. I just use the seat belt when using the center seat.

BTW, I have 5 kids.
