I used to live in Katy. AN Katy does have a busy service department, they lost my '09 F150 XL RC keys once (!) but otherwise I was happy with their work. Never bought from them though.

Bought other vehicles from Mac Haik on Katy FWY and from Joe Myers. JM was easiest to deal with, slight more price-competitive than other dealers in my experience.

Thanks all for the overwhelming onslaught of responses. Consulting both my banks (USAA and Navy Federal Credit Union) before I start talking to dealers, and hope to start getting some test drives knocked out (Do have to test the competition, that's half the fun, but heart is set with returning to Ford)

'17s hit in mid October yes? Wondering how the overstock 16s will be priced, plus isn't Columbus Day notoriously a good time of year to buy? Drive my cars into the ground so if my questions seem amateurish it's because I've had my current ride since buying new in 2004, so getting back into the mindset of dealing with dealerships feels long forgotten. (Old man showed me how to get my money's worth out of every mile when I was a kid)

Delta, I just bought a few weeks ago. I did extensive research in the Houston area. The absolute best dealer discount came from Autonation Katy. The 2nd best was Planet Ford 45.
I bought from Helfman because the had the exact truck I wanted and they gave me a good deal and I negotiated in a spray in bed liner.

Also check out Friendly Ford of Crosby and Baytown Ford. They had some great online discounts if you're flexible with colors/options.

Friendly Ford seems to have great deals locally and I know several people who've had good experiences buying there. I would not recommend Big Star Ford in Pearland. It was a bit higher priced but was within 2 minutes from my house. I figured the relationship with purchasing a vehicle at the same dealer I would get service at would be a benefit. The service department SUCKS. It has basically been FU since the deal was finalized. I cannot stress that enough. I've had my vehicle in there 6 times for three issues of which only one was corrected. I now drive an extra 15 minutes to another dealer (Ron Carter - not the lowest price but will match any offer etc.) which I will be buying from in February.

I did Ryan Ford in Sealy and they delivered (no charge) my truck to me in Friendswood. Actually, they didn't have what I wanted on the lot so they found one 200 miles away, took it to Ryan Ford, cleaned it, then delivered it to me.

Almost bought my 2015 there. Until I got the final invoice and they were charging me $200 for tint and $150 for wheel locks. Told them I wasn't paying for their cheap tint, and take the wheel locks off. They refused to take the wheel locks off- arrogant ****er even offered to give them to me "at cost", something like $75. Do you think I didn't find the exact same locks on Amazon for $30 you stupid ****er?

No help from their **** sales manager on the topic. Took my business elsewhere.

This is why I like this forum, aside from the arguments between TT 3.5 vs 5.0, I've got great responses, again, thanks to all.

Think my biggest challenge is tracking down a SuperCrew 157 wheelbase with 5.0 and 4wd. The unicorn of trucks it seems. Cars.com and Auto Trader have been helpful with a nationwide search, but wish they had wheelbase in the filter.

Forgot to mention. 36 gallon tank... I'm being damn picky, but if I'm shelling out the $$$...

This is a concern, I know dealers tend to go for budget tint and then charge out the *** for what I'm going to have redone. Would ideally prefer to have the dealer strip the tint and give me blank slate instead of paying for it, then either stripping myself or paying a tint shop to strip and reapply with quality stuff.

I sent Ryan Ford a list of items I wanted and they spent 2 hours and came back with three options. The pricing was good, no extra crap or $150 wheel locks, and like I said, they delivered my truck. Make the dealer work for you. They can search easier.

I bought my truck at Joe Myers and I worked with John Templeton. It was easily the best truck buying experience that I ever had. I only have 3k miles on the truck so I haven't experienced their service department yet, but I will tell you that John made sure to take care of me when I was there.
