Default Auto Stop Disabled - Best free option

I just came across this video and haven’t seen it mentioned before as an option.

Has anyone tried this yet or have any advise why one would not want to do this, other then the reason in the video?

Seems like the best option so far!

Thanks!

No thanks as he notes "if you go to tow something make sure the plug is plugged back in".

Much easier and more trouble-free to just unplug the battery monitor plug at the battery.

I did this in the summer of 2017, from a suggestion found on this very forum. Nothing new.

Not to hijack thread, but does unplugging the battery monitor have any affect on the radio power time-out, or anything else for that matter? I HATE the auto-time-out after 20 minutes or so. Thanks!

Unplugging the battery monitor has no affect on the time-outs, power point or radio. They can be changed in forscan though

'Increase radio on time after truck shut down.

APIM 7D0-01-01 xxXx xxxx xxxx change X to 6

This changes the radio power-off delay to 60 minutes after the truck is shut off. Wait for the ignition power to time out and then turn the radio back on with the RADIO power button. Alternatively, after turning off the ignition, open and close any door to disable accessory power. Then press the radio power button to turn radio back on. It will now stay on for the extended time amount."

My trailer light plug has been unplugged for a year now with no issues whatsoever.

Very simple fix that takes 2 seconds.

Thanks, but I haven't ventured into the world of ForScan and probably won't. I'm quite computer savvy, however I don't like the idea of screwing around with the truck's computer. I tend to rush and miss small details that end up being bid deals later on.

Turning off BMS in ForScan using the procedure outlined in the ForScan sticky was my go to. I tow frequently so unplugging the trailer connector would be a pain for me. My '18 has 31K on it now with no ill side effects whatsoever.

Unplugging the little wire by the brake pedal is the best method if you want ZERO other side effects. Unplugging the BLM works, but also puts our deep cycle batteries on FULL charge all the time. Whether that’s good or not, I don’t know.

So I tried the method in the video on my 2019 F-150 and it does work.
However just an FYI.
Out of curiosity I did scan the OBD for codes and it does trigger a fault code. Although no check engine or idiot lights display on the dash.

The code is from the Powertrain Control module: "U0252 Lost communication with Lighting Control module- Rear B"
