My son recently purchased his first truck a 2020 F150 XLT. When we was test driving I noticed the GPS still showed the truck in New York, a long ways from its new home in Tennessee. I didn't really think much of it hoping it just needed an update or something along those lines. However after some troubleshooting I believe the problem may be the APIM module. These are the symptoms, GPS still shows the truck in NY not TN and never updates location, Apple CarPlay will not connect shows connecting but never does, have tried multiple cables. Tried updating sync version both over WIFI and a USB thumb drive both were unsuccessful. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

 

have you tried a master reset? either by pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery

 

We tried the master reset by holding in a couple of the buttons, don't remember which ones, that didn't work. Will trying pulling the fuse.

 

So there was a time that the cache files got hosed up with sync 3. If it were me, I would go to cyanlabs dot org, They will have a cleaner system and replacement files, all at n/c. My first thought would be to investigate battery however. If it is oem, 5+ years old, it can have very goofy consequences with the various electronics.

 

I can relate. Same problem only after last update. We did soft reset: holding down volume button and scan forward button at the same time till screen goes black, master reset on sync screen, and battery disconnect and pulled fuse. Went to dealer ( under prime care warranty), they did diagnostics. Now my screen says Detroit with no GPS. Need new APIM. Dealer has to call Michigan bc need code to order new one under warranty. Yet he tells me, some other diagnostic says don’t replace APIM. 2019 Platnimun, FX4. Waiting for dealer call.
