I said this problem is all over the Chevy forums. You can Google that yourself and see it as fact.

I have personally repaired and painted 3 15+ f150's. So i know the aftermarket availability for sheet metal doesn't exist yet.

Working at Ford dealers for 6 years, painting warranty and recall issues. So i also know that this will need to be more of a widespread complaint to warrant a recall.

That is what i said. The rest you fabricated. You said i was a structural expert or whatever. Somehow you read " automotive refinish tech" but heard "structural analyst."

I really don't have an issue or concern with this. Someone mentioned on yet another aluminum hood thread that Ford has been making aluminum hoods since the 97 model.

Yes, I have noticed how the hood waves when going through the blowers at the end of the carwash. It's an awesome thing to watch. However, the hood always seems to retain it's original shape and form, like magic!

IMHO, this is a non-issue.

Have not had the problem noted in the OP but I do wonder if the hood is a little thinner than in previous years.

My 2011 had no dings in the hood from acorns (had a few in the roof).

My 2015 has over half a dozen dings in the hood (none in the roof) just from this year. Granted, they are very shallow but still, now that I've seen them I can't 'unsee' them.

Yes, let's recall a hood that hasn't affected anyone's safety, to replace them with hoods that needlessly fix an issue that wasn't there!! Then let's all bitch about the price hike of trucks next year because of a useless, expensive and really brainless "recall" hiking up operating costs

Seriously, this "We need a recall/TSB for this" crap is getting ridiculous. Every vehicle I've ever driven has hood flex in the wind/car wash and never once have I sat there and watched it flex, and thought "This is really negatively affecting my safety, they should recall this"

That hood seemed to raise 1/2 inch in front of me in the raised portion to the left. It did it several times during the drive every time I met a semi coming into the wind. It was colder and I wonder if the grill vanes in front were open. It was shocking because I had not witnessed it before that windy day after 9500 miles on the cluster. Oct 19, 2016 Now I keep imagining a wrapped around hood one day or blown off and up like a kite with no tail. Hope that front latch is super strong. That hood definitely shows some of the same characteristics as a beer can. Oh Ford what have you done to us ?
If you're going 62 mph east and the semi is travelling west at 62mph, the speed differential would be 124 yes (but the wind would be lower since the wind from the semi is not moving at the same speed as the semi).

Also, if you are travelling 62mph with a 15mph wind behind you, the simple math would say you are seeing 47mph wind in your face.

So simple math (ignoring the reduction in wind speed coming off the semi) would say 109mph wind in your face, not 139mph.

I did noticed this a couple weekends ago. Driving into strong wind on a narrow highway, and when the semi trucks would go by in the other direction, I was worried the hood would pop open. So I started moving over to the shoulder as much as I could and that helped a lot.

This ^^^ Believe it. Stand beside the road and feel it from A semi driving into a strong breeze into it. It is a shock wave in front of it. The semi is blocking that wind, say 15 MHP and going the other way at say 63 mph and you slam into it doing 63 miles per hour like a solid block. U see the semi is trying to slip stream 88mph of air and it hits you perty much a double whammy from the tractor and then the trailer unless the tractor has one of those big toppers on it then it all hits you at once. Call it turbulence if you want to but it looks to me like it is trying to rip that side of the hood up and off. It may be a lifting effect of air moving faster over the top of the hood than underneath much like a wing knowing most aircraft take off/are flying at those speeds

a proper test drive would have shown this and you could have simply not purchased it.

Lol on proper test drives ! Yes run it past a closing semi driving at you into a strong wind very fast or better yet just passing a slow car at say 85 mph then meet him !

Again this thread is about the owner wanting to talk about the hood after experiencing the lift and taking a video if they wish and posting it. Remember it didn't happen if there are no video's so all of the above may not be factual. I will post my video as soon as I wash the truck or drive into a strong wind again on a 2 lane blacktop.

Ask yourself ?
