Anyone using Motorcraft Full Synthetic Oil?
Hi all,
I've used Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w-20 on my past 2 F150's with great results.
They were both OHC engines that made it to 180k and over 200k miles prior to me trading them off with no engine issues.
I am trying to plan ahead and see what I want to do with my recently acquired 2016 2.7 Ecoboost. I know it requires 5w-30. I think I am leaning the synthetic route due to it being turbocharged.
Many will say you can buy better oils for less money, but I trust Motorcraft Oil and Oil Filters. Normally the Motorcraft Synthetics are hard to find or too expensive, but Rock Auto is actually carrying the oil and the filters. Even with shipping, it comes out to under $40 when I buy enough supplies for two oil changes at a time.
Is anyone using the full synthetic by MC? Likes, dislikes?

I have the Ford Quicklane upgrade my oil changes to full synthetic. I never see it in the usual stores. If I still did my own oil changes, I would probably use a different brand that was easier to find. I do have full confidence in the Motorcraft though.

run it in everything I own down to the lawnmower and snowblower and generators 5-30 full synthetic Motorcraft. My 2006 has 350,000 miles with no oil useage. I use it even when the specs on the 5.0 say use 5-20. Never had a problem even when temps went to -23F. I have some 5.4 work trucks using it and one has 525,000 miles, another 430,000, another 412,000, none use any oil still. The 5.4 were specked at 5-20 but as you can see, no ham done using 5-30. May have even helped them last longer. No ticks, no phaser issues, nothing. Pull the valve covers and look new with no discoloration or sludge of any kind.

I've run Motorcraft full synthetic since my 1st oil change. Getting ready to turn 70K miles, and no problems. I've posted this photo before, showing the oil level after 5K miles, exactly the same as the level after it was changed with 7.7 quarts. It's still looks the same after 5K miles:

Generally, what oil filter were you using and what oil change interval? thanks.

I use 5w-30 moto full synth and filter in my 2.7.
Sure wish I could find it around here for that cheap.
Buying it from the nearest dealer is $100 for 6 qts and a filter....

I use it. My first 5.0 was trashed but not because of the oil...it was defective from the factory. That being said, I've used MC full syn in my commuter Fusion V6 since I bought it essentially new 12 years ago. It has well over 300,000 hard miles on it and it sounds better than my 5.0 did/does. I pulled the covers recently to do a timing chain replacement and there was zero sludge, other than typical discoloration over time, it still looked fairly new. The thing that sucks about MC full-synthetic is that it's not as available as other oils...I have to order it online if I want to do it myself. I've been looking at liqui-moly, Amsoil, and Red Line though for whatever I have next.
