Has anyone attempted this yet? Is it really as easy as swapping the Tcase and adding the switch?

Does anyone have a copy of the wiring diagram to confirm if it uses the same harness?

Also interested. Trying to find any wiring diagrams for the 4A setup, though it's proving to be a bit hard to search for.

Wink

So I've been doing some research on this subject as winter approaches and have found a few things. The total cost of this doesnt seem too crazy, a transfercase is like $800 new from ford and the module is like $50.

I found one line that has been identified in forscan relating to the different 4x4 systems but it seems most of the work happens between the transfer case module and the transfer case.

Transfer Case with TOD: GL3Z-7A195-E
Transfer Case Module TOD with E-Locker: FL3Z-7E453-H TM-289-
Transfer Case Module TOD w/out E-Locker: FL3Z-7E453-K TM-288-
Transfer Case Mode Selector:FL3Z-14B166-BA, FL3Z-14B166-DA, FL3Z-14B166-AA. (Im not sure which one is the correct, maybe if someone has their dash apart we can figure it out)

Edit: looks like FL3Z-14B166-DA is the correct part number.

Forscan:

It seems like most of it might be plug and play, but I'm hoping i can get more information.

4a? Who remembers having to get out of the truck and lock the hubs in manually?

I guess I'm thinking why for the cost? It doesn't turn it into awd...

For people that drive through areas with lots of transitions between dry roads and snow/ice, constantly manipulating the 4x4 **** gets old.

it actually makes it more AWD than you'd think. It manages torque to the front axles on pretty much any amount of acceleration from the driver. But disconnects it when you're just cruising around.

This is one of the things I really wanted when I traded my 2010 for the 2015.

When I put it into 4A mode and display the power distribution screen, it seems like the truck is always transferring some amount of power to the front wheels. I haven't used it enough to determine if its vectoring the torque front/rear like other systems do, but I've never noticed it only sending power to the rear when 4A is engaged.

Going around corners on dry pavement produces no apparent binding that would certainly occur in 4H mode.

Put a different way, it sure seems like AWD to me, with a rear-biased power distribution strategy. What am I missing?

Edit: Strike-through incorrect statements above. 4A seems like AWD because you can "set it and forget it". That said, it's definitely not the same as some other manufacturer's AWD systems.
The transfer case does split power front and rear, but only up to 50/50. It doesn't send more power to the front if the rears are spinning. Also, it manages tight turns by cutting power to the front wheels. The system also cuts power to the front while cruising around in the higher gears at times. I find that the system doesn't quite operate like a real AWD system, but still easier to deal with than having it in 4H and having to switch back to 2H every time the road is clear.
