It's almost like leaving the keys inside your car without locking it. Just not safe. Having said all of that, until somebody confirms you can open the garage by opening the truck without the key, it's just speculation. I really doubt that will be the case.
Thanks for this response as I was thinking the same. Some Mercedes and Nissan's re-energize the Homelink systems when the doors are opened again.
I think the quickest way to test without having to push the Homelink buttons is to just see if the visor vanity light turns on since it's operating on the same circuit. I bought the Homelink visor and haven't installed it yet which is why I haven't done this test

Assuming that the truck has been properly locked up in the driveway, the question is this.

Does Homelink work if the vehicle is broken into, and the alarm is tripped? That is what we want to know, isn't it?

BMW always had thier set up when the ignition is on. This is a safety hazard since if a person gets into your truck they will be at least able to get into your garage to try to steal something better.

Feel free to wire your Homelink any way you prefer, but I think this is a solution in search of a problem.
I believe the solution is park your truck in the garage or a .40 cal Glock.

Roll down the window and lock the truck. After it times out, reach in the truck and open the door with the inside handle, setting off the alarm. Try the garage door opener. Let us know what it does.

Personally, If I have the truck parked in the driveway, locked up, and someone breaks in and sets off the alarm, I am not going to worry that they are going to try to invade the house with the horn blaring. YMMV

It will be powered while the alarm is going off.

Well, didn't try with the alarm on because just saw it now, but left the driver's door window down, and allowed the truck to go into sleep mode. Homelink doesn't work with the door closed, as expected. But when I opened the door (without the fob), the Homelink worked again. Not what I was expecting, but at least I know it does. The last test is to do it with the door locked, so the alarm is active... but somebody else will have to do it. Leaving tomorrow again. Will check back next week for the results . Happy TG gang.

I subscribe to the slow and heavy camp. I believe in the .45ACP.
