Default Anyone replace remote start with aftermarket?

I've had remote start/alarms on almost every ride I've owned.

The one that came with the truck is... well is adequate.

We had Smart Start on our 09 SuperCrew and was wondering if anyone has switched out Factory remote start for aftermarket?

We would love to have our two way communication back with out truck, as well as longer run time.

I'm worried the downside is the OEM fob needed to use the push start?

Thanks for any help

There is two way communication back from the truck, sort of - there is a green LED that signifies the truck has started. It blinks red if it has not.

You can also change run times from the main setup screen, but I believe you are limited to 15 minutes at most.

Yeah most two ways will beep when started and stopped and have an audible alarm on the fob or your phone with smart start. The Ford fob as no noise to alert you to anything. And I can't hear the truck running half the time to know if it started or stopped.

And yes the max is 15 mins which is not as good as 1 hr with our last f150, and 2 hrs with our Gator.

Thanks!

Mine works great. What other features do you want?

Makes sense. An audible beep from the remote would be nice. I like that the horn does not beep (as it does in my wife's Durango) - less likely to wake up the kids!

Holy cow - I can count on one hand the number of times I have exceeded the 15 minute limit. I cannot imagine having a 1+ hour run time!

When you take the dogs in summer or winter, you don't worry about them freezing or over heating. So the 1+ run time gives you ample time to get in and out of dinner/shopping if the weather is bad.

When you have the Smart Start app enabled remote start, you can query the truck to see if it's running, locked, where its at. You can start, lock/unlock anywhere 3G service is.

Im thinking about adding a Drone system. I live in Minneapolis and install Direct Tv but also am a bouncer so I park my car in a parking garage usually a few blocks away and the Drone system is used via a app on your smart phone and you can start it from a ways away and it will tell you. It has some good features plus it can also be an alarm.

Why don't you just add Ford Remote Access? Same as Smart Start.

Most likely you still only get 15 mins of run time.

And you only get like 3 cycles of 15 mins each and it won't start again for 30-45 mins I believe
