Anyone regret getting the 3.5 Ecoboost and wish they could trade for a 5.0?

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read on this forum.

well ****. For this reason alone I guess I should get rid of my ecoboost.

Forget the fact that the whistle of twin turbos is sweet.

Why the put downs, I don’t understand the point. All of these engines are good just some of them fit a little better for a particular application. I tow a travel trailer in the mountains and the 3.5 has more torque and at a lower rpm than the 5.0 so it works best for me. If I wasn’t towing I would probably get a V8 because the torque comes on slower and for driving on windy roads that would be a little smoother accelerating out of corners. As far as sound, I prefer quiet so for me that is a non issue but I do know several peoplewho like the sound. Your 4 year comment is not accurate, I have not seen many ecos that have been failing, I do see a lot of people that don’t have them saying they fail frequently though. There is one person that has over 350,000 miles on one and I have seen a lot of over 200,000 mile ecos.

Smile

Very happy with the 3.5 Ecoboost and have had 2 of them, a 14 and now a 17. Have also had the 5.0 in a 2012 F150. They are all good engines but I like the Ecoboost for towing as it fires along happily at lower RPM's, rarely shifts, pulls like a diesel. The 5.0 pulled the travel trailer but took more RPM's and more shifting to do it. Have had no mechanical problems with any of the Ford F150's that I have had.

I guess I'll have to settle for the sound of my 5.4L in my GT500 and deal with having a wussy truck.

This 3.5 is what brought me to buying a Ford truck. If I cared one bit about the sound of my truck I would have stayed with Chevy. I bought a truck to do truck things. Wanted low end torque for towing, better gas mileage for town driving, and didn't want to go diesel. Ford did it with the Ecoboost and if I could do it all over again, I would have done it sooner. I'm not that guy that sits at a light and revs his engine to get attention.
