Anyone regret getting the 3.5 Ecoboost and wish they could trade for a 5.0?

I was about to say, the 18 5.0 has a plastic pan too, i wonder if that was known. I mean here's a hint, every engine they've updated or added has a composite plastic oil pan now.
First the 2.7 when it was added, then the 3.5 gen2, and the 18 5.0, and i'm sure the new 3.3L will have one too.

I've tuned mine but, the peak power on a tuned gen2 eb is basically at the point it's going to shift, 6000 rpms. I can rev it higher and it still holds power, but i don't want to push rpms with more power because it doesn't need to.
It wouldn't matter to me because i'm at 1100 rpms for precisely .002 seconds.
I don't even understand the point of what you're saying, if it doesn't matter as you said and you can just blip the throttle and it downshifts WHY EVEN MENTION IT.

I can't believe the arguments over 3.5 Eco and 5.0 NA in a TRUCK. It's a truck for Christ sake, not a race car, both are designed as such. Yeah, the 5.0 idles @ 700rpm in park. But who the Heck is driving around at 1100 rpm anyway, I know it's that stop and go traffic in Jersey?

Yep more junk parts to make the truck lighter and lighter. They are not built ford tough anymore. They are plastic and aluminum toys now.

back in the early 90s, Nissan sold a skyline in Japan, single turbo, and had a plastic compressor wheel (composite plastics). Once you hit x boost level, the thing would eat itself alive. But within the safety threshold, it was great.
I had a car in the early 2000s that had a plastic valve cover. Never had an issue with it.
strange things indeed...but plastic now isn't what it was 30 years ago.

yea I'm just curious here..... what is it exactly that think you is going to happen with the oil pan? Its not like its under a lot of pressure or anything, its just hanging out. What usually causes a problem with the oil pan is the seal. Now thats something to be concerned with, not that its plastic.

No one thinks it isn't though. What you're describing is a characteristic of pretty much every N/A engine, they always produce much more usable torque at rpms that the turbos haven't spooled at all on another engine. And that's barring any displacement differences which give more torque to begin with. Positive Displacement Superchargers work on this principle and give you awesome throttle response.
As far as the oil pan being junk, i'm sure for the application it's completely fine. Some of the plastic out there is more deformable than metal is nowadays without failure. If you dent a steel pan on something on the flat bottom you're taking it off all the same as a plastic one, so who the hell cares.

With the lack of rust to be seen in the future, my guess would be the truck itself to include " plastic oil pan" last longer then the old. Ford tough, ya id still say so.
