Default Anyone gone 4.10 gearing with 10-speed

So i just leveled my 18 with 3.31 gears and added some raptor pull offs. The truck isn't that bad down on power really, but in the fall i will be doing a lot of highway driving and towing...only 5k pounds but still wanna be able to hit a headwind and the truck not sturggle.

If you went 4.10s what brand did you run? How is in town driving with the 4.10s and the 10 speed.

Ask a Raptor or last gen FX4 owner. 3.73 will make a huge difference from your 3.31. 3.73 limited slip, even better.

While I have the 6R80 behind a 5.4L with the 3.73 Limited Slip it tows well and mileage empty is 18-20 MPG on trips and I only have two overdrives where you have 3 overdrive gears. My top gear (6th) is the same as your 9th gear as far as that goes. I could not see owning less 3.73 and towing 8-10K regularly but this is not my daily driver and often I am towing an old tractor to some event. My tow rating is Max 11.2K under ideal conditions and at my age I like to have some power to spare on some hills I meet on some one lane county roads. The 2002 Dodge with the 4 speed and 360 gas engine never failed me but I have pulled some hills at 10-15 MPH with the pedal to the metal with a total of 7K trailer and load. Off pavement I just go to 4L for tight places and backing up, etc so differential ratio is really a non issue. In my case going over 3.73 would be an overkill. On main roads when you can keep up your speed I expect any differential ratio should be doable. For people that tow at 100%-200% max capacity from time to time then that is another story and something I never plan to do. I see some have trackhoes, etc behind some light trucks around here.

I was taught Over Kill is over kill and it comes with a price. I was also taught brakes are a more important factor than starting a load moving.

I am very happy with my 3.73 an stock 18" rubber. If I were going bigger tires I'd step up to 4.10, but definitely not with the stock tires.

I have 3.73 gears with heavy 33" tires and the gearing works well with them.

I can see wanting 4.10 with the 5.0 or 3.3 but with the ecoboost engines, you won't get as much benefit from the turbos and would be relying on the low gearing. I am betting that is why Ford likes to pair the 3.55 gearing with the Ecoboost engines.

If you are running Raptor size tires, 4.10 gears would be a minimum with the 5.0 as it makes it's power at a higher rpm than the ecoboost. A 4.30 gear would be better if available.
As for gear manufacturers I've had good luck with Yukon, but I would consult your gear installer as some are easier to set up than others.
