Anybody Use SYNC Destinations APP
#31
I just picked up my 2015 F-150 Lariat.
So far my only complaint is the navigation interface. Wow is it cumbersome and slow. Really annoying that I (my passenger) can't change destinations while driving.
So I downloaded the Ford Sync destinations app. I sent an address to my vehicle as prompted. When I pushed the voice button and said, "services" the truck had no idea what I was talking about.
......any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Congratulations on your new truck! That's exciting.
Log into your account at: Owner.Ford.com and click the SYNC & HOW TOS tab, followed by SYNC SERVICES. Check to see if you have an active subscription to SYNC SERVICES. If you do, click your name at the top of the page and select YOUR SETTINGS. Click the VEHICLES & SYNC tab and you’ll see a SYNC MOBILE SETTINGS section. Add the cell phone number that you will be using to access SYNC Services. The active phone is the only one that can be used with the subscription.

3 days? I don't get that. Every Ford I've bought came with Sync free for 5 years. There are 2 different types of Sync. I'm only used to the one that comes with MFT and navigation. Only use I have for it is sending directions to the navigation screen. I'm not a fan of Google Maps. It's useless if you travel to remote areas. I like the maps Ford uses with their navigation. Its the same company that makes the maps for Garmin units.
Google maps works for our travels as we don't wander into areas that's not on a map, city dwellers we are.
But yeah sync services is a huge waste of $$$ for our uses.
In the unlikely event we might travel to area's far away and unknown I use copilot nav. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...emiumusa&hl=en
Helluva lot cheaper and so far very accurate.

Ford has really screwed up getting people to use Services. My 2010 Fusion came with 3 years free. My 2013 F-150 had nothing. Hence I tried nothing, have no idea if any newer features are worth having. Trial offer would let you experience that. That said, I use Googlemaps. You can store maps offline if you plan ahead.

Both my 13 XLT and my wife's 14 Escape came with a free 3 day trial, I think they do that on purpose because 3 days is no where near enough time to evaluate it so we both opted to pay the $60 for a year only to find at the end time to renew that it wasn't worth what they charge so we didn't renew.

Motion X GPS is another good one. I'm not sure if it's on Android. I don't think Google maps is bad by any means, it just doesn't work for me on remote forest services roads I use for different camping locations. If you're into hiking or go on remote roads, check out Backcountry Navigator for Android. I used that app a lot when I had an Android phone.

I think the Sirius trial is more like 6 months, not 3 days.

I have been using this with google maps and it works great. I almost never enter anything on the nav itself. Google maps is so much faster and my wife can do it while im driving or i can use s voice on my note 4 to find it and send to my nav. To me this is a must have. The sync app sucks in comparison
