Default Tailgate Inside protection

On my last truck,I had a plastic bedliner cover skin on the tailgate which worked fine. What other options are out there for this new one? I don't want to LineX the tailgate because that will scrap my ladder when i pull it out. I was thinking a rubber mat made to stick to it (if there such a thing). What options are you guys using?

My tailgate was LineX'd but put this over the bed and tailgate to prevent scratches, etc Had it in over a year and it's stood up very well.

Ford sells a hard plastic liner for tailgates. I have one on my 2016. The part number is FL3Z-99000A38-DA.

It's a woven plastic material ( totally washable) with some sort of a built in foam backing. It's about 1/4 thick and you can kneel on it without killing your knees. Also won't scratch anything in the bed but it's not super slippery... It also stops stuff from getting between the tailgate and end of the bed. It looks really nice and easy to care for imo.........
