After my first 2.7 being replaced, and my second 2.7 still consuming oil and getting abysmal gas mileage, Ford has finally filed my replacement claim. All it took was 8,000 miles and 4 different oil checks (the oil was low every time), 2 different oil pressure tests and Ford claiming that 1 quart of oil burnt every 3k miles is completely normal (mine was burning over 2 every 3k, but we're dealing with idiots here). Now that I'm just playing the waiting game for Ford to send me the paperwork to get a new truck, I just had a nasty chirping sound start in the turbos on acceleration AND the IAT sensor went out. The 2.7 is impressive for what it can do, but I'll never be able to trust one, ever again.
Off topic. Does Ford realize that by saying 1-1.5 quarts of oil being burnt every 3k miles is normal, they are essentially telling the less mechanically inclined that it's completely normal for them to be sitting at about 1 or 1.5 quarts of oil left in their oil pan when they hit their 10,000 oil change interval... Ford is giving REALLY bad info to people, all in an attempt to not have to fix their engineering follies.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck,FWIW my 2015 with the 2.7L Eco Boost has over 19,000 miles on it and i've never had to put oil in it as of yet. Also FWIW i've been to other forums and people with GM's have had oil consumption problems. And it's not just Ford,GM tells the people the same thing about oil consumption in 3,000 miles.

I'm not interested in Chevy or GMC. Won't but anything from Government Motors. But this is ignorant and negligent advice from any company. When you have a 10k oil change interval and only hold 6 quarts, telling customers who don't know any better that it's normal to lose anywhere from 3.5 to 5 out of 6 quarts of oil is just A. Setting them up for failure and
B. Refusing to admit that there are issues with the product.
I've never had a newer vehicle burn more than 1/2 quart of oil over the course of an oil change. Losing a quart every 3k is unacceptable. It's a recipe for oil pump failure and/or premature engine wear/failure.
I am glad to hear that you're having good luck with your motor. I'm sure if I got another it would probably be fine. But the wife is wanting an F-250 to move our food trailer to and from festivals and to do chores around our apple and peach orchards, so I won't be going that route.

I would never wait till 10,000 miles between oil changes no matter what Ford says!!!I have mine changed every 5,000 miles and have the tires rotated at the same time,IMO 5,000 miles is pushing it!!!!Actually i've heard you should change oil every 6 months even if you don't drive a bunch of miles!!!So if you drive 10,000 miles and are over 6 months from your last oil change that would be a no no!!!

I know this. You know this. But I'm speaking for the very large number of people out there that do what Ford tells them to do. They don't know anything about vehicles, and when they depend on Ford to tell them how to maintain their vehicles and Ford feeds them incorrect info, that's not good.

I have 37,500 miles on my 2016 2.7 ecoboost XLT sport. Ford has done all my service/oil changes. They have me come in every 5,000 miles. Sorry about your f150, but excited for you to get the f250. Those are great looking trucks and you are going to be able to tow anything you want with it!😎

All I have to do is look at my wife's car. She paid for the Ford maintenance program. It could be burning oil and nobody would be the wiser until - "Honey, I'm on the interstate broke down..." Not that she would check the oil anyways but that is my job which I do. These are the differing experiences I've seen from most (not all) previous Big 3 dealerships vs. others. Most other dealerships are really looking out for you and the Company stands behind the dealership.

What is your fuel dilution?

As I've stated before in this thread, this totally sucks for the guys that have to deal with it. I'm over 20K on mine (dead center of the TSB range) and still check the oil every few weeks and have the pucker factor when I check.

There's absolutely NO WAY in the year 2017 where a vehicle costs 50k dollars, that an owner should be required to add oil at such a ridiculous pace. On a brand new vehicle, I should never have to worry about checking the oil between changes. Absurd.
