Default Another thread about friesbruh's XLT .. would you do this deal

My truck - 2018 XLT 3.5eb CC 6/5 bed 4x4 MTP

This other truck - 2016 3.5eb CC 6/5 4x4 MTP Lariat loaded 38k miles, certified pre owned
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...1969/overview/

my trade in value - Just had one dealer quote 29k (better than before) so we'll say 30k if I can push them to it
price of old lariat pictured - 37,988 - let's say they come down to 36500. This would add about $7000 on to my truck loan (36.5k-30k). After some payments since last time the loan is down to $44700. so that plus 7k is 51700

HERE IS THE QUESTION

personally Id rather have the lariat if I had to choose one to pay off ... but what significant changed were there from the 2016 3.5EB to the 2018 3.5EB not considering the tranny's (6spd to 10spd)

Thank you

What is an MTP?

Whatever it is, I wouldn't do it. I don't understand why you keep wanting to roll negative equity into different vehicles. Keep driving what you have.

Owing 51+K for a 2016 Lariat is just silly. If you had to get out from underneath it you'd lose $20K.

What's better? Longevity of a car or luxury? You are losing a bunch of updates in the 2nd gen ecoboost. Port injection being the biggest IMO. You are also losing the 10 speed transmission. I am not saying early generations of the ecoboost were bad, but Ford did address issues in the engine.

MTP my guess is the max trailer tow package.

No brainier to me. Keep your truck.

I also find it funny that 3 out of 4 of your pole questions basically mean you are to get the truck, so it sounds like you were thinking most people would side with you getting the lariat. Or perhaps you wanted more people to have you justify getting the lariat.

I also find it funny, and interesting, that, to you, "maybe" "no way" & "drive it off a cliff like we said last time" somehow mean....... "I get the truck."

On what planet do those three options translate in to getting the truck?

I was unaware of early gen. issues with the 3.5 and newly added port injection. In case people are wondering .... your answer is precisely why I asked this. good points. thank you for your input.

Disagree with 20k.More like 14K (51-37). Basically the same as I am now. So then its a question of which truck would you rather ride it out with. a 2018 3.5 or a 2016 and the guy above says, the 2018 has some upgrades.

Max tow package. It might be called "Max trailer tow package" technically

Seriously? What lending institution would be dumb enough to lend over $51,000 on a 3 year old truck with over 38,000 miles?

jharmon do you know what year the upgrades to the 3,.5 were made? was it 2018? is it supposedly a pretty big deal?

Cash or a personal loan gets you the difference. Not many (if any) would loan 51k outright on a truck like that.

You need to quit visiting dealerships and dealership websites. Drive what you have and be happy. You will be just be putting yourself further in the hole if you buy this truck.
