Default Another rust underside - WWYD

Would anyone just leave it as-is? Is it truly superficial and/or will it ever become a structural problem?

Issue is how quickly Ford corporate + dealer can move to get it fixed, but the specific spec is not easy to find at all.

That rust will never in your lifetime, or the lifetime of your children, become anything more than a minor cosmetic issue.

I didn't expect this response from the dealership ... hopefully Brittany et al can save the day here.

I just talked with out General Manager about the situation.

"While we try to accommodate every customer, he said he is not interested in going any further with this to make the sale. The surface rust you see is not uncommon to be seen on any differential on any type of vehicle regardless of brand or model. He said this isn't something he would pursue to make a sale and doesn't think there is any need to bring Ford into the matter further. I'm sorry we couldn't satisfy you."

I can ignore the lies, it's like breathing to (some) dealerships ... it's the outright we're not interested in doing anything else, and don't call Ford, either

How is it a lie? He didn't say rust is universal to all vehicles, just that it's not uncommon, which is true. Basically they're telling you to get over it as it's not a big deal. He didn't tell YOU not to call Ford, just that they wouldn't.

I used some Rust-Oleum Rust converted, taped off everything I didnt want black and used a Low gloss black. Looks perfect! I have done this before on my 09 Ram and it lasted for years with no problems!

Dealer did, actually, in a passive way

I had salesman reach out to his service reps for the repair, reps informed the dealer that they would not auth the work

I asked for the rep's info so I could put him in touch with Brittany and Ford corporate to sort it out - he responded he sees no reason to get Ford involved

Nevertheless, I did PM Brittany so we'll see but doesn't look good
