Is there anybody with powered steps that does not have mud flaps? I have just been curious how much snow/mud accumulates compared to my non-powered steps. I am just not a fan of mud flaps but the amount of snow/mud that builds up on my normal steps is horrible.

I had never planned on them either, but after this weekend I realized it's either take off the steps or get something to protect them a little.

I was just hoping powered steps without mudflaps would still be retracted enough to stay fairly clean in comparison to fixed steps. So the AMP or factory powered steps still get a lot of build up without mud flaps?

I have no idea, most everyone who has them in winter conditions that commented seems to have flaps. I am thinking the only issue could be if stuff gets on them while driving and freezes, then they won't be strong enough to break the ice and open later on.

I just got flaps for my truck with the amp steps, but had no issues with without the mud flaps. I do wash my truck about once a week and would just spray them off real good when washing. Live in Ottawa also

I never had a problem with my aftermarket ones without flaps and so far this winter I'm seeing same with factory ones. Get a slight amount of accumulated snow/ice on the very front of them but the rest of the board is effectively protected from any accumulating crud. The stuff up front is easily kicked off if! when necessary. However, I'll add that my insulated attached garage where I park over night very rarely goes below freezing. So if not melted in the morning its at least softened up.

Thanks for the info everyone. My wife and I are moving from Tampa to Denver in Q1 2017 so I was curious how the Amp Research boards did in snow/ice climates.
