Default Amp-Research Powersteps in snow

Anyone out there have the power steps in a wintery climate? I am thinking about getting a set but am worried about potential rust from salt on the roads, motors holding up after a few tough winters and also wondering if a ton of snow gets stuck to them when driving like the factory boards do.

Thanks in advance.

I had the power steps on my 2012 platinum and absolutely loved them after seeing the stationary steps packed with snow and ice, while mine remained clear. I did install mud flaps all around just to make sure they stayed clear tho. Never had a problem with the motors at all, but we don't use salt in Montana, just sand so I don't have any experience on that part. The day after I got my 2015 Platinum I installed mud flaps all around and so far this winter they have stayed clear also.
I think it's a big plus that they are tucked up out of they way while driving to prevent any build up of snow. Highly recommend.

Thanks, I live in NC now but am moving back to MA soon, after seeing they got so packed the back doors wouldn't open with just an inch I know they need to go but want something to replace them. I'll have to see if mud flaps will fit with my tires, its tight as is.

Good tips tho thanks!

Do you have factory power steps, or stationary? Mine are stationary and I have to unclog every time I get in it. Literally just had to break a huge chunk of ice to get my dog out at the vet after a 15 minute ride because the doors couldn't open.

Okay that's good to know, I have leveled and 34.4 's. It sounds like I might have to get a pair.

My son has the amps on his 2012 Screw. He's on the beach almost every day and he has had 0 problems with the motors and I'm sure he's in the ocean water frequently.

I installed aftermarket Amp power boards in an '11 I had and did have some issues with the boards not going up or down after several years. It turned out moisture got in the motors and corrosion caused issues. Very easy to access though and clean/lube never problems after that.

I ordered some mud flaps so it looks like between those and some small upkeep I should be fine. Just have to save up a little.before I out the order in.
