So can someone dumb this down for me. You can just unscrew stock and screw these in? Maybe I'm thinking of the ones that require ballast, I've never messed with lightning. As far as the dust cover, just get a size bigger than stock? I have never explored the headlight area so I'm having a hard time picturing it. Anyone got some crayons to explain better to me?

Nice and bright. But that dim light looks like it covers too far down the left lane. Let us know after a few night drives if you get flashed for having brights on when you are in dim.
.
I put brights only on mine and they are like flame throwers. Not hard to work on except that dam fender liner. A total PIA to get out of your way to work on lights.

the lights you’re thinking of are HID. They have ballast and are crap compared to good led.
And yes you just order the bulb sizes needed and it’s plug and play. The dust covers are self explanatory also. Just go check out the links and you’ll see the difference between oem dust covers and the larger aftermarket.

LED also with ballast or something. Mine have light, fan, cable, ballast, cable, then connector. VERY bright.

So I'm a few days in now and wanted to report back. I have not been flashed back and I've done a good bit of night time driving. The first thing I did was take the truck to the absolute darkest stretch of road I could find. This little two lane stretch is covered over by trees and I went just before dark. As it turned pitch black I was sure I was going to get flashed since these bulbs are incredibly bright. Not one person flashed me. I did the majority of the drive with just my low beams. I had no problems making my way. I saw deer and various obstacles with no problems. While the high beams would've obviously been better there's no way I would've been comfortable doing that drive with just the factory halogen low beams.

These led high beams are pretty insane. Thankfully I dont think I will need them quite as much as the low beams are doing a much better job now.

I did not compare the cut off pattern to my old bulbs but I do think new beams cut off fairly low. I really don't see much light past the cutoff line. What I do see is all of the ground right in front of me. I clearly see the edges of the road and if there are painted lines or reflective markers they are nice and bright. With the old halogen bulbs I often found myself using the lights on cars behind me to drive. Now I'm able to see road signs and operate my truck without ever noticing the lights from vehicles behind me. Just something as simple as identifying transitions in the road is a lot easier now.

Glad I made the change. I highly recommend it. It's a huge upgrade for a very small amount of money.

So, putting these in through the wheel well on 18 and 19's.

I had issues (with other LED lights) with the driver side as the mounting boss is not centered with the headlight housing, and leaves very little space on the inboard edge. They go in fine in 18/19 lights fine?

Also, has anyone driven through HEAVY snow for any length of time with these?

to be honest the wheel well is a PITA compared to the little extra time u spend taking the whole headlight out. No trying to finesse the bulbs in or get your arm in the right position.

As as far as being able to fit in an 18/19 I’d assume they would but may need the extended dust covers on the lows. But don’t quote me on that.

I always see people mention the lack of flashing, do you think its because its truly not an issue, or people just get pissed off and cuss to themselves then keep driving? Honest question... as far as installation I'm considering picking up this pair. But for the larger dust covers, don't I need a specific size to create a good seal?

It is actually illegal to flash your brights into oncoming traffic in many jurisdictions.

I wanted LED headlights too so you know what I did???
I bought a lariat with 502a package!

LED bulbs have no place in a halogen light housing.

That's what I keep reading so I'm slowly changing my mind about doing this. I'm sure its a lot brighter and better to see. But you see, I'm a pilot so I have perfect vision as it is, I think I'll manage for now. Did I mention I'm a pilot?
