P.S. I've owned a load of 70's and 80's cars, American and Japanese, and the metal work on them was atrocious. Whether it was straight or not, even a TEXAS car from the 70's had rust within 5 years. Unacceptable on a modern vehicle.

I started my post with a video on the 18 trucks.... The rest is stating the quality I'm used to...

Did I miss the requirement to OWN a 15 up? .... OP posted about the flaws... I'm agreeing with the OP.

If I missed the 15 up Ownership requirement... I apologize.... Thought it was a discussion...

and.. .on any of them... set a restoration price point of $35K,,, and you very likely can exceed the build quality of a 2002 up F150 for paint and body at the same price point....

It's not the starting product.. It's the final product and $$ spent...

The point...Do I spend $35-$45K on a NEW F150... and suffer the quality....

Or...

just take my 79 F100, 86 F150, or my 1991 Nite... Coyote swap with a budget of $35K and have QUALITY.

Because to get Quality, you have to pay for it... My point is.. I do not want to pay $35,000 and --NOT-- get it... and I do not see any way to buy it from Ford.. Unless they rebate me $20,000 and I take it to a body shop.

Congrats to all of you that spent $38,000 on your toys.... and didn't get quality... To match the quality, you'd need 10-15K more at a good body shop.
I didn't miss the point. I just feel comparing restored vehicles to factory ones is moot. Also the fact that if you brought a truck to a body shop and ask they straighten common factory waves, many will not take the job knowing you will never be happy. Unless they are friends or family of yours

... you are right... never would be happy... so the OP posted in an 2015 up forum... I've made my observations and for the same $$$ I can have higher quality and be happier... Cheaper to insure,,, tag yearly.... all around..

I think there is a misconception about this forum... Yay.. peaches and cream... we love our 15 up....

Or...

Make a Negative... observation about a 15 up.... and.. WHY ARE YOU HERE GET OUT ......

Either love the truck... or be labeled a Troll...LOL...
Agree with us or.... hater be gone.....

Maybe this thread. But this forum by and far loves negative "this truck sucks, agree with me or be gone" threads. Been here since 2011. I try not to post much anymore because people don't want to listen to someone that works in the industry, or have worked for other manufacturers. You must not have been here that long.

Older vehicles aren't made out of aluminum like these trucks are. That costs more, and is harder to keep straight. I'm aluminum certified. I know how difficult it is. Also older vehicles don't have as much creature comforts like all the sensors, cameras, ac seats, etc that newer vehicles have. All that drives up the price.

The $35k+ price tag more reflects the ecoboost motor, all the tech, and the price of the aluminum. Paint and build quality has always been mediocre. You can get a good one or a bad. Hit or miss. I worked for Ford for 6 years. Chevy for 3, Toyota/Nissan for 3. I never saw a manufacturer that was leaps and bounds better over any other as far as paint and body quality.

Ex Toyota. Sure their paint might be really clean, and glossy. But 9/10 there is no paint on the bottom of any door, and depending on color, none of their plastics match the color of the body panels.

Nissan is similar. But more prone to runs, nibs, and zero paint in jambs
