Well the 2015 F150 paint held up to slinging some 22 Mag Brass at it.

The Keltec CMR-30. You can heard the brass hitting the truck. Did not do this on purpose just had the truck too close. Did not do nothing to the truck.

Was shooting at the new steel targets I just got also.

Regarding rock chips, I have a 2016 in Shadow Black and started noticing the chips about a month after I purchased. At first just thought it was my bad luck to have picked up a few chips, I have owned it for just 6 months now and as more and more chips show up on the doors, hood, A pillars, fenders, and tailgate I would say this is definitely a defect issue. The chips go right down to the white primer, and in some cases the bare aluminum. I owned a 2001 in Oxford white for 12 years and put almost 300k miles on it on all types of roads and weather and had almost no chips in it at all. On the inside of the doors of my 2016, they didn't even put on enough paint to cover the primer, it shows thru, basically looks like the color coat was just overspray. Of course the dealer doesn't want anything to do with it now that they have my $55k that I paid. They are SO surprised and have NEVER heard of any paint problems. What a crock. Will file a complaint with the NHTSA for what that's worth.

I doubt filing with NHTSA will amount to much since paint has nothing to do with safety, but I have to agree 100%, there is something not right with the paint. I have never ever had rock salt chip paint, but it did on my 16, right down to bare metal. I have never had chips on rear doors either, especially on top of a body line(whatever that ridge at the bottom of the door is called). I know exactly when it happened since I will never forget the pinging the salt made as the spreader went by in the opposite lane. The bounced off the road and hit the truck, not hit from the truck so it had reduced speed too.

How about the clear delaminating from the base. Thats not a Ford issue, according to those ******** at Ford.

Rock salt did that. Thats on the rear drivers side door.

Clear delamination from the basecoat is an application issue

According to Ford, its because the paint got chipped and will not warrant it.

This is exactly what I was told.

When the paint finish has been compromised (chipped) the exposed paint finish is vulnerable to the elements if not properly maintained (touched up).

As such, the previous non-warrantable determination is the most accurate.

However, the close up images shows the paint is chipped. Chipped paint will occur when a object from an outside source comes in contact with the vehicle paint finish.

In addition, the durability of the paint on steel and aluminum body panels is equal.
Now that chip was less than a month old, even if I could touch it up right away, the weather was not good enough.

Yes chipped paint is not warrantied. It's specifically mentioned in the warranty manual.

They did the tape test right? If they did, and the clear did not peel further, than yes it's just a chip and not warrantable. If it continues to peel, then they should do something. As that is an application issue. Clearing over basecoat before its fully flashed off will cause that.

Nope, all they did was send a picture into Ford. Now every body guy/painter I showed it to said the same thing, not supposed to do that. heck the topper I painted in my garage 2 years ago has a better paint job.
