Has anyone come up with or provided a mounting solution for these yet? Those xnuts would be awesome but would certainly cause galvanic corrosion in short order as the aluminium and steel would not get along very well!!

This is an old thread that keeps getting resurrected, but here you go:

I mounted a 4’ L-track rail in the recessed area at the top of the front wall of the bed. I took a 4’ length of aluminum stock 2” wide x 1/8” thick, drilled matching mounting holes for it, then plasti-dipped it and used it as a backing plate. I used stainless hardware—screws, washers, and nylock nuts—to sandwich the bed between the L-track and the aluminum bar. The most difficult part, obviously, was getting the hardware between the cab and the bed and threaded onto the screws. I used my fingers and barely reached where I needed to get to. If I had to go lower than that recessed spot, I’d use a box-end wrench and some painter’s tape to hold the hardware on long enough to get the threads started.

Here’s a more detailed post on what I did.

^^ Thanks for the response, that is far more effort that I was hoping to put into this though.. Was hoping by now there would be a better solution but I guess not..

It took an hour. Not a great deal of effort. It took me way more time to overcome the idea of drilling nine big holes in the bed.

Question

New member here and have not had a F150 since my 1978 Stepside. I just sold my 2015 Ram 1500 and picked up a new 2021 F150 Crew Cab FX4 with a 5.0L.

Any who, I need to haul my KTM(s) and I had and liked the CCR Sport ProTrack Moto Rack in my Ram and wanted another one. I just talked to the owner of CCR and he is having trouble getting aluminum extrusions and estimates a 4 to 6 month backlog for the ProTrack Moto Rack.

With the stock tie down points and the abrasiveness of the RhinoLiner, I think I can get by without the ProTrack Moto Rack if I have a tie down point in the front center of the bed floor. Said tie down point would need to be strong enough to secure 2 bikes, side by side.

However, I am nervous about drilling a hole in the bed floor of my new truck and only want to do this once. Can anyone recommend a durable tie down "loop" for the front bed floor? And any advice before I get the drill out?

The CCR Sport Protrack has been on back order for some time know: https://ccrsport.com/protrack/

And I couldn't wait any longer, so I ordered one of these from etrailer: https://www.etrailer.com/Tie-Down-An...hy/SS15-C.html

And here are pictures of my install.

The stainless steel hardware:

Measure twice, cut once. I covered the exposed edges with Flex Seal and let the Flex Seal Cure.

Installed:

Installed (underside):

I used a heavy gage 304 stainless steel backer plate. I actually ended up using a wider plate bigger than the one in the top photo, because it fit nicely and offered even more support. Before installing the backer plate, I coated the bedside of the backer plate with a couple of layers of Flex Seal to prevent any galvanic corrosion.

I also used thread locker, lock nuts, lock washers, and fender washers, as I want this to never loosen.

For the outer tie downs I use the factory tie down points. Also, the abrasiveness of the new formula RhinoLiner does a great job of keeping the tires / front end from undesired rotation.

I put nearly 800 miles on this set up this weekend with no complaints.

Congrats @Trail Ryder! That's a great setup. I'm looking to do the same thing. However, I can't figure out how to hold the plate and washers in place under the truck. There isn't enough room to get my arms through with the muffler, drive train and gas tank blocking access. Did you remove the muffler or gas tank? How did you do it.

I did not have to remove anything, but my arm did rub the muffler so the truck had to be cold when I installed / started the nuts by hand. It was not super easy or comfortable installing the backer plate, washer, or nuts, and I did have to use a long extension on my rachet to tighten the nuts.
