Default Aluminum bed with bed buddy tire tie downs?

Wondering if anyone is using or has an opinion if it is safe to install a tire chock rail (bed buddy tie down) in the aluminum bed?

My 2011 has wheel chocks bolted to a piece of plywood cut to fit the front of the bed so that my front wheel stays off the tonneau cover. I am buying a 2015 and want the 5.5 ft bed for city handling.

I was wondering the same thing. CCR also makes a heavy duty aluminum one called the Protrack.

ProTrack

That might be better with the compatible metals but you would want to be careful with the mounting bolts as well. I would think.

I've been trying to find something for that forever that WON'T require removal of the bed... Obviously aluminium bolts/nuts/washers will do it but there is no space between bed and cab so bed would have to come off. I suspect those Xnuts as they call them are the same nuts that come with the bed buddy kit. Unfortunately they are made out of steel with a zinc coating that will just wear down. Using them would eventually ruin your bed, unless they are in fact made out of aluminium as well.....

Seems easy enough to change out the hard wear and get different bolts, that are coated or use nylon sleeve and washers. I know it is tight but I've been able to install similar products on several other trucks, even if I had to come up from underneath with something to hold the nut or bolt with.

I've always just run them t.o the front of the bed on my 3 previous Ford trucks but if it looks like the aluminum won't take that I'll prob rig up something like Mandryk has done.

Thanks everyone.
I will check out the CCR product.
The moveable chocks on the extract/plywood have worked well for me (needed with the Roll-x tonneau) but as I am going to try a 5.5 bed I am looking to see if there are alternative efficient tie downs methods for multiple bikes.
Cheers.

I plan on going with the plywood/wheel chock setup.

I use a plywood, 2 by 4 wheel chock setup in my toyhauler. Works great and didn't cost much.
