Default Air Intake Upgrades

Hello,
I am thinking of upgrading my air intake on my 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat (5.0L V8). Has anyone done this upgrade and if so what were the benefits? Are there any concerns about doing this? I have heard that it does make your ride a little louder. I am wondering how much. Very curious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed an S&B intake on mine mainly for the looks and manifold cover project I'm working on. The stock intake is already a great set up that draws cool air from the front of the truck. Also I have a Borla Atak Exhaust so I really can't tell on the sound. S&B makes a quality, good looking product for very reasonable price. Instructions were great with color pictures.

I'm not sure there will be any benefits.
I think that Ford Engineering team puts more time into R&D than these aftermarket companies. They balance power, gas mileage, longevity, and probably noise a bit too. I'm just not totally convinced that *more* noise means more flow. To me, more noise means more air hitting off of 'things' throughout its travels.
I mean maybe there's a chance that you'd pick up a few horsepower - but maybe there's a chance that you don't - and you lose a few horsepower due to a less efficient airflow design. To me, it's not worth the risk.

Do it for looks. Added performance or mpg is minimal at best.

Something to ponder. THE F250 with the 6.2 and the F150 with the 5.0 both use the same air filter.

So either the 6.2 is really restricted, or the 5.0 has an awesome intake right from the factory.

Having owned both, I think the 5.0 intake is pretty good like it is. So if you want one for looks, go for it.

I'm going to buy one for my truck, just not sure which one.

Due to CAFE standards, ALL manufacturers design their intake systems to flow way more air than the engine will pull!

The same air filter is also used on the 4.0, 3.0, and 2.3 Rangers years ago!

I put a K&N intake on my 2010 and felt no difference in performance or fuel mileage. Except when going wide open throttle when passing a vehicle or towing. But I liked the looks. So I'll get another, I'm liking the looks of the S&B that Bigwestees has.

Looks awesome. Always opens up the potential to suck more crap in to the turbo (if you are running one).

And dirt & oil on the intake valves, if you are running an EcoBoost!

You can install one but don't expect much difference in power if at all without a tune. I installed one of my EcoBoost (with tune) mainly for looks and sound. Even with the tune I can't tell much difference if any in performance.
