There was another thread where someone added F250 mirrors. Why couldn't these work after the harness and module change? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mirror-Power...-/311611628925

I am hopeful that a stand alone system will come about. Perhaps a kit that includeds a set of mirrors and a master window switch replacement. Might end up being a pipe dream...

Putting a module inside the mirror to use the trucks 8pin connector would be the cats meow!

The wiring just isn't there for an easy change unless they were turned into a data bus.

guess that's what I meant by module inside the mirror

At that point, it would be easier just to replace the DDM and PDM as you are into repurposing stock wiring. I have not looked to see if there are different door modules with more IO for 22 pin mirrors. If there is only one module type, then there is a chance one could just add leads to existing connectors and use a 3rd party connector to help keep cost down. But bottom line is there is no way to do power fold with 8 pins while retaining power adjust, EC, heat and indicator light.

I'm not an electrical wizard but have seen building fire alarm systems from the 80s that had thousands of wires, replaced with a cat 5 cable. Can't see why a much smaller scale couldn't be done with 8 wires and a module inside and one outside. Just sayin

The issue is where those 8 wires originate from. They are driven by the DDM (PDM for right mirror) and/or the switch module. So you have to adapt that connector to something that does a CAN bus in place of say mirror up/down. I'm not saying you can't, but that you aren't gaining anything over just building a mirror with its own extra connector for the additional IO. The point is the 8 pin harness is a moot point when you really start talking redesigning the connector.

not trying to be a negative Nancy, I just don't see a magic solution from an EE point of view.

Tony any update? Just asking as I'm getting near my window of no more mods... I usually trade every 2 and stop dumping money into them after a year
Thanks
