Default AFE cold air intake vs regular

It made my mustang sound like it was an air sucking bat out of hell on WOT

Yeah either way I'll be getting it. What about blow off valves? Anyone install those yet on a 2.7? With make boost of 31 psi I believe it will sound pretty bitchen.

I remember reading a post a while back about how someone just disconnected some hose somewhere so you could actually hear the BOV. Supposedly didn't hurt a thing and could easily be reconnected.

Try a search and see if you can find it. It would be a cheap easy way to get the sound.

Myself, I am probably going to put on a Full Race CAC, which will have a BOV on it.

Roush says this about their new CAI for the Eco Boost motors:

"You can expect engine performance to increase by more than 28 rear-wheel horsepower and 27 lb-ft of rear-wheel torque."

I wish people would start referring to these things as what they really are - HOT Air Intakes. Look at stock, then look at any generic "CAI" and tell me which one actually draws colder air...

I have found that low restriction intakes improve MPG slightly and improve throttle response. Can't say I know if HP/TQ increase, but it seems a small increase is likely.

As for the hot air boogeyman, numerous studies have shown that the underhood air is barely hotter than ambient, while the vehicle is moving. The only place heat soak while standing still would be a performance concern would be at a drag strip. Not an issue for me.
