They didn't have to buy it...that's a line. It was probably a 16 that was hanging around and not selling. They might have decided to buy it to report it as a sale to meet an objective. When the vehicle has been sitting and rebates on that model year "expire", Ford gives "dealer cash" for the dealer to mark down the cost of the vehicle, since there are no longer rebates. When that money hit, the dealership "bought" the truck and pocketed that money as profit. Do the research and see what comparably equipped trucks are bringing on the market. Check the warranty start date, too...

Thanks for the insight, I will just walk away from this, it seemed high priced and a tad shady, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

You are smart for walking away. Waaaaaay better deals out there. What about the lariat do you NEED vs a XLT302A?

46k for a 5.0 2016? 5.0s have terrible resale vs 3.5s from what I have seen, so that is a crazy price IMO, "new" or not.

I got a 502a SCrew with 36 g tank, power running boards, moonroof, tech package, tow package, which MSRP was 62K and change, paid 51 and change back in January. It was NEW.

If it's been titled, then go to cars.com and look at 2016 trucks in the used market for comparison pricing and see what they sell for, and base a bid on that.

Like the others said though, walking away is the right thing, something sounds fishy with it.

Here is a used Platinum, granted it has 30K on it, but still.

My sticker was at 54k, A-plan with 0% got me to 48k so no it is not to steep for a lariat, the big discounts go to xlts so don't listen to those guys at what they got off of sticker.

A truck with that sticker price should have an invoice amount of about $56,405. The largest amount of rebates that everyone qualifies for his $2500 on a Lariat (in my area). I am assuming that you don't qualify for first responder, or military appreciation rebates. Given those numbers, that's not a bad deal. You could always try to get more out of them though…
