Advice on build for trailering boat
First post here. Looking for advice on a good set up for towing a 27’ boat that will be 7500 - 8000 loaded including trailer.
I am looking to purchase a new 2018 and am hoping I can package out an F150 to meet my towing needs. I will be towing probably 10 -15 times a year in Florida.
By reading though a ton of posts it seems the 3.5 ecoboost is a popular option so I figured id start by getting advice om how to buikd out the truck. Currently have the diesel engine in my Land Rover that the new diesels will be built on I believe and its been amazing especially with mpg, but I am not sure I want to hold out for that option especially in the first year or two this gets teseted in the F150.
I’ll be new to towing a boat like this but not new to towing.
Thanks for any input or advice on what I should be looking for.

Depending on the participation of the thread, you will get some folks tell you that you are approaching F250 territory.
With the F150 I would think you would need the HD package. What you're towing is obviously important but what you're loading/carrying in the truck is important also when figuring your capacity.
The towing section of this forum has a lot of very good information and helps you understand how to figure all the different weights for coming up with a safe set up.
Wondering, is this truck going to be your daily driver as well? Family vehicle?

here comes the "if you go 1lb over payload you will cause mass casualty on the freeway" people
how far will you be towing
i think set up right you wouldnt have any issues maybe an add-a-leaf to help it not squat if your tongue heavy

I tow a Four Winns 240 with my F150...ordered the truck before I had that boat on the horizon. It does a fantastic job, 2.7 with the tow package. I did not get the truck built with the 2.7 payload package, again, it tows it just fine with just the tow package (when I ordered my F150, I had a slipped 33' boat). It's my daily driver and when I get a new one in a year or so, I'll order one similar to it.
Towed a 27' Four Winns with a Ram 2500 years ago - had the HEMI in that truck and it did well. You should do fine with an F150. I have a friend that tows a similar 27' Four Winns with a Tundra.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Yes this would also be my daily driver and yes for family as well. Id be looking at the super crew which seems to have a ton of space inside. I figured the idea of a 250 would come up. I just dont see how that could work for me especially considering what i think would be minimal towing.
Also i have 20’ to play with in my garage. How tight will this be?
Boat will be mainly kept on a lift but when we want to go down to keys or crystal river we will trailer. We will travel between Tampa and Boca Grande / Marco Island the most. Maybe down to Islamorada once a year.
Is eco boost the electronic 10 speed?
I’ll look at the towing section as well.

What will be important for you is the payload of the truck. You need to know the tongue weight of your trailer, and the weight of people and things in the truck. It’s usually the payload, and sometimes the rear axle that are going to limit how much you can tow.
Determining the payload capacity of a truck is difficult (if you order it), you may be able to find someone with a similar setup and compare. Try to get a truck with just the options that you need, all the extras take away from the payload.
You will also want to get the locking rear axle, it might be standard with the max tow package.

I tow a Regal 2400 with mine. Fully loaded with the trailer is about 7500lbs. I haven't had any issues towing or getting up the fairly steep boat ramp. I would imagine in FL, the ramps are fairly flat in comparison.
.
With respect to the fit in the garage, it will fit. My garage is 20'2" to the door support bars.
