There should be two changes with FORScan, to the BCM and IPC.

726-22-02 xxx* xxxx xxxx Remote Start Enable Cfg: 0=disabled, 1=enabled

720-02-02 xxxx *xxx Remote Start: 0=disabled & D=disabled is listed

It doesn't list what is the enable value here. It's possible it may depend on your trim level and/or other features. I have factory RS in an XLT and my value there is B.

Check the pins in your connections. One had backed out causing problems. Fixed it and all is ok.

Thanks guys. I'll check the forscan values, it's possible I won't need to change them. The remote start menu options still show up in my display, so it's possible the ebay harness permanently programmed them to enable remote start.

And I did check the harness pins, they look ok. I honestly don't want to mess with this thing considering the potential to cripple my truck.

The easiest and quickest way to do remote start is with the smart phone app. Only draw back is you can only remote start from your cell phone, but it gives you way more range/distance then any key fob.

We we have the two modules needed for a price that is hard to beat, and once you have remote start turned on in the truck we can activate the rmu over the phone in the matter of minutes.

Send me a pm with and other questions

thanks

Does that require a monthly fee?

Thanx

Yeah, I don't want one with a data plan, spent way too much money already on a first world problem.

Livingitup kindly gave me some more info on the factory fob with remote start (4 button). Apparently that one requires a dual antenna since it's a dual band remote. The "regular" remote fobs (the ones with just lock/unlock/panic) are apparently single band transmitters. So unless the truck is equipped with the dual antenna, I'm out of luck.

Speaking of bad luck, the locksmith I used to cut my new key totally botched it up. So now I need to buy a new blade for the fob, and I have no idea where to find one. I looked on ebay and none there resembled what I need.

Sheesh. Lesson learned, next time I will actually order the truck like I want it instead of messing around with hacks.

hmm i wonder where the antenna is located and if one upgraded to a dual band, did the appropriate forscan changes, and bought the new fobs if it would work

Edit: I think it might be by the rear window on passenger side
