I am curious if anyone has had a oil pan fixed that actually lasted?

I have 2015 2.7 and the oil pan has leaked since the first oil change. I have had the pan changed every other oil change so this next time will be the 4th time changed between 2 different dealers. I was planning on keep this truck, but now I am thinking that may not be the best idea.

Probably the metal surface of the lower aluminum ladder block that the sealant for the pan has to mate to is too slick/smooth. The sealant adheres/bonds strongly with the composite surface of the pan (this has been mentioned earlier in thread) but I'd wager the aluminum surface it has to bond to is the culprit, likely due to too low of a torque value for the attach bolts because risk of fracturing the composite (i.e. can't tighten attach nuts too firm or fracture pan's mounting areas) thus the combo of nuts not torqued firm enough and the hyper-smooth aluminum mating surface is creating a perfect storm so to speak.

Either needs an aluminum pan that can handle the attach nuts being torqued firmer, or the aluminum mating surface on the ladder block needs roughed up or etched so the sealant can grab it better, or a completely new formula of sealant that works better and is more durable. Just another opinion, and you know what they say about opinions...

Yes. I had 4 pans installed last year alone. The first three leaked. The fourth was done properly as noted by the shop supplies used and listed on the work order. As of my last oil change 45 days ago it was still nice and dry after 7 months. If you're not seeing any shop supplies used in surface prep listed on your work order when you pick up the truck - it wasn't done right (and you can tell them that too).

19 3.5 screw with 5/19 build date. I only looked underneath with a flashlight but it appears I might have the plastic pan. Why would they use both metal and plastic on the same motor?

Bought a '17 2.7 with 44K from out of town dealer, had first free oil change from same dealer at 49K. Went last week for 2nd oil change at local dealer. They said they were booked up, so sent me across street to a lube shop that does all of their overflow fluid changes. Tech immediately calls me over and shows me the leak. Shows me the shield/cover and it's obvious it's been leaking for quite a while.

My point: dealer saw it, knew it was leaking and said nothing to me.

Picking it up today from local dealer
