This leaking oil pan stuff is totally unacceptable and pathetic IMO. How much is it costing Ford to be replacing these "craplastic" oil pans? How many vehicles are really involved nationwide. We only see a VERY small slice on this forum compared to how many of these vehicles are in service. Ford is ducking the problem by not issuing a TSB specific to this problem. There should be a OEM "metal" oil pan replacement for the 2.7 and 3.5 engine already produced. Any F150 that has a leaking oil pan should receive a NEW OEM metal oil pan and fix the problem permanently.

IMO once these vehicles are out of warranty it's going to cost 500 to 800 dollars out of pocket to install a new "craplastic" oil pan! That should do wonders for our resale values....

I'd like to see a class action lawsuit slapped on Ford to force them to recognize the problem and provide a REAL fix.............

First oil pan change (Jan 2016) in at 900am, out at 5:30pm (after three week wait for parts. (Dealer A)
Second oil pan change (Nov 2017) in at 900pm picked up noon next day. (Dealer A)
Third oil pan change (Apr 2018) in at 830am, Tuesday, ready 515pm Thursday, loaner car, "and 2 year guarantee". (Dealer B)
FYI, it's leaking again, and when I called dealer B they told me they had oil pans in stock but might have trouble getting a loaner...

I don't have faith in Ford fixing this issue unless they switch from composite to aluminum. At 10k miles mine is leaking now.

I have an appointment on Monday to bring my truck in for the recall and the 2nd oil pan change. I’m trying a different dealership this time and the service manager mentioned they made a change to the lip of the composite plan to prevent it from leaking. Time will tell, but I’m curious about how they changed it.

Good to know. Guess I'll take mine in when it's due for an oil change.

I dropped into a "quicklube" for an oil change, and it was THEM who alerted me to the leaking oil pan. Not the FORD dealership that did the prior oil change. Anyway, I waited until I needed the next oil change before taking it in to have the oil pan done. FORD dealer confirmed it needs replacement. According to them, you can NOT reuse the oil pan, and a new one needs to be installed with the silicone sealant. They have asked me to leave the vehicle with them overnight, so the silicone and set. I think this is good advice. In addition, they waived the cost of the oil change, since they would have had to drain the oil anyway to fix the oil pan. Crappy, stupid design on FORD's part, but the dealership at least did the best they could, under the circumstances. Now FORD ... PLEASE come out with an upgrade before our warranty expires. PLEASE!!

My 2015 F-150 with 2.7L EB is in for it's FOURTH (that's right, handful minus your thumb) oil pan at 40K. First time it was changed, I waited on it...and had a dentist appointment during the wait. Second time, eight months later, they kept it overnight. When I went to pick it up, the service writer asked me why it had the 'old design' oil pan on it. Well DUHHH, Ford supplied the part, you put it on. Third time I changed dealers, they also performed the door recall as that malfunction was serious enough the driver's door wouldn't stay locked, would intermittently 'pop open' when activating the key FOB...but they kept it three days. I took it back to this same dealership after being advised "you are out of 3/36 warranty but our repairs are guaranteed two years unlimited mileage." Wait..this is powertrain AND I purchased a 100000 mile complete powertrain warranty at purchase...from Ford. When I inquired about this, they said "Oh, wait, I see you have had MULTIPLE repairs on this...Ford will cover it." When I mentioned Lemon Law, everyone scattered.
I took the vehicle in on Monday, October 8, and was told it would be ready sometime today. I called at 800am, and was told they had verified the oil pan WAS leaking from the right rear corner, and they had it apart and were performing the Tekata seat belt pretensioner recall. I was informed it MIGHT be ready Saturday
October 13, but most likely Monday October 15. The dealership DID provide a loaner, 2018 F-150 XL Screw 4wd with Sport package, but the 3.3Lpowerplant feels like I'm towing my 6000lb travel trailer when I'm not...
Yes, the large oil leak is from the drain plug...there is oil all over the back side of the pan, none on bell housing. Shield that is removed weighed 15 lbs new, nearly 40 now because it's full of oil. Wish me luck.

My EB 2.7 leaves this kind of 'droppings' on my drive, it's from carbon in the exhaust. Both turbos, couple of pipe joints and the muffler...

Mine is in the shop right now and I have a 2018 XL Screw with the 3.3 and boy that motor is noisy and gutless. Hopefully this new pan solves the problem but who knows. They said mine was leaking towards the back of the pan by the transmission.
