looks like it turned out pretty good.
I did the install last night. 2017 F-150 XL SCab. The most aggravating part for me was routing the wire through the door. The window guide was right in the way of the two nuts that hold the door handle on, so I couldn't remove the door handle. That made things a bit more interesting, and I lost a small patch of skin on my hand in the process. I did get it routed and got one of the white clips attached so the wiring is out of the way of the window. Everything else was easy peasy. I worked in the AV industry 10+ years ago, and it made me appreciate how well built our door panels are. I'll never complain about too many screws after fumbling with hundreds of older door panels that were held on my nothing but clips...

Absolutely. I’m very pleased. Kudos to Ford for making things fairly easy on us wiring-wise. And my thanks for the info and directions. I did the jumpseat armrest conversion to a folding storage console a few days ago. Once I get my trailer brake controller and LSD installed next week I’ll be done... hopefully... who am I kidding. 😐

It seems that most 2015+ F-150s have a sticker with the code on it located behind a wiring panel behind the passenger side front kick panel. I've linked the video I used to find the sticker below. The sticker is hard to read due to its placement, but I was able to take a picture of it with my iphone (with flash on) and read the code from the picture.
You can do both to enable the keypad. Forscan is easier and cheaper. It took me 3 minutes.

You don't even need to find the sticker if you have two keys. The cluster can display the code.
Edit: Here are the instructions from Ford's site:Displaying the Factory Set Code

- Insert a key into the ignition and switch the ignition on for a few seconds.
- Switch the ignition off and remove the key.
- Insert the second key into the ignition and switch the ignition on.
- The factory-set code will display for a few seconds. It may not display until after other warning messages have displayed first.
You will need to have two programmed intelligent access keys for this procedure. To display the factory-set code in the information display:
- Place the first programmed key in the backup slot inside the center console. The key ring must be at the top with the buttons facing toward the rear. If there is no backup slot, place the key underneath the rubber covering at the bottom of the cup holder.
- Press the START/STOP button once and wait a few seconds.
- Press the START/STOP button again and remove the key.
- Insert the second programmed key into the backup slot, then press the START/STOP button.
- The factory-set code will appear in the information display for a few seconds. It may not display until after other warning messages have displayed first.

I got mine installed today and it works perfectly. I got a few battle scars on my hands but it's all good.
